I have thought about this. Lincoln Riley had Baker Mayfield- Heisman winner; Kyler Murry- Heisman winner, Jalen Hurts-runner up Heisman winner; Spencer Rattler-projected 2021 Heisman winner at the end of 2020; and Caleb Williams- Heisman winner. But he has no championships or playoff wins

@StraightSh00t3r
@StraightSh00t3r Жыл бұрын
His inability to coach up the QB’s that he has is the reason he doesn’t have any championships. The defense is secondary. Baker-was already great, Kyler-great player, Jalen-already good and has proven himself, Spencer-had to give up his personal coach the second year. What happened the second year? He got benched and in walks Caleb-already great player. It’s not from TBOW coaching him. TBOW just takes the credit for the win. Loses are all on the team.

And each time he was heavily criticized, mocked,laughed at. And never did one thing to fix it,after all,he had a Heisman winner! Then,secretly works with Texas to go SEC,,and then,runs out the back door in the middle of the night to LA and Hollywood country! Matt most of us OU fans weren’t mad about the fact that he left Oklahoma. We were pissed about how he did it. Recruiting kids to USC while being the head coach at OU is just foul. Using the LSU rumors as the smoke and mirrors to hide the fact that he knew he was leaving. I’ve been told by people in the real estate market that his house was up for sale in September of 2021. I for one was excited about the BV hiring because I knew we had a guy who will focus on the defensive side of the ball. It was just a wait and see thing for me. BOOMER #MattDaGoat

I talked so much shit to Oklahoma fans over this Dude, and they warned me. Didn't believe it. This team COULD EASILY lose to Cal. Caleb has quit. He's just like his Coach; A megalomaniac who only cares about himself. Riley is Kliff Kingsbury 2.0 Riley had Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, Jalen Hurts, Caleb Williams. If Caleb leaves (Which what NFL team will agree to his terms? He wants PARTIAL OWNERSHIP in whatever franchise he goes to. I think the plan was to stay at USC, beat up the PAC-12 a few seasons and the pair go to the NFL together. NO NFL FRONT OFFICE WANTS RILEY AS A HEAD COACH. He's Cliff Kingsbury 2.0. So next year, will be his FIRST ever where he won't have a Heisman Caliber QB under Center. The way he left Oklahoma said alot about his character and when someone shows you who they are, take notice. Bravo to Brent Venables and the incredible job he's done. He's landing 5 Star Talent on BOTH sides of the ball and can develop and get the most out his players. Look at Clemson without him. I thought Oklahoma was Dead, but he's already brought in one top 5 Class. Looks like he's going to get another Top 5 again. Venables is also loyal. That dude isn't going anywhere. I apologize to all Oklahoma fans I talked smack to. You were right. Meanwhile Riley and his staff CANT RECRUIT. Oklahoma is recruiting kids from SOCAL, who should be at USC. But I think recruits, their parents, etc are seeing what Lincoln Riley and USC is. He also won't hire an Alpha type Defensive Coordinator, because Riley's Ego is too Big. If he brought in a Defensive coordinator and he turned the USC D into something incredible, he would overshadow Riley and I'd want him as the HC. In the first 23 games both Riley and Helton are 17-5. Cal (Is NOT a given W, they are gunning for USC and see how USC has given up). Oregon is a L. Washington is an L. UCLA could be another L. USC will AT BEST go 7-4 and at worst go 7-6 if they lose to Cal and UCLA.

With Riley keeping Grinch, OU fans tried to say what was going to happen. USC fans called that being bitter... wrong. We had just seen it coming for years as more and more Stoops players were leaving the program each season. We weren't mad because he left, we were mad because of how he left. Dropping games at the end of the season while he was working his USC deal behind the scenes then skipping out of Norman just 12 hours after the last game of the season in the middle of the night all while gutting our program of coaches, staff and players that OU resources were put towards recruiting. Lossing to Tulane in a bowl game should have let USC fans know the type of culture Riley builds around him. Lets be honest... Tulane had no business beating USC or the "king of play calling" and the Heisman trophy winner and multiple 5 stars on both sides of the ball. If he leaves on his own, he will gut your program too on his way out of town and you'll have a year like we did last year and lose a season rebuilding. USC's best bet is to fire him and Grinch, run them out of town and retain whoever they feel is valuable to your program. That is your best bet to keep from losing to many players to transfers. OU has seen it, OU has lived it. Thankfully we had someone to bring back home to right our program and show that not being able to recruit at all 22 positions is a Lincoln Riley problem and not an OU problem. Or keep him... tbh I enjoy college football better with USC losing. They're not even the best team in their conference... or even their division.

Could you imagine Jimbo and Lincoln on the same coaching staff? Top 10 recruiting classes and absolute mediocrity on at least 1 side of the ball. Caleb Williams actually has plenty to prove. He's been mediocre at best against any defense ranked near the top 25 (the few he's played). People keep throwing around the "generational" tag for him while he literally hasn't proven it on the field. He does all the cute escape-the-pocket-throw-off-platform stuff against bad teams, but struggles when he actually has to utilize fundamentals against defenders that aren't 2 star recruits or worse.

It's amazing watching USC play a game as a OU fan. It's like watching a OU game from 2018. They are exactly the same. And, people like to blame Alex Grinch, while he does suck. No DC, no matter how good they are, will be successful under Riley's philosophy. Football is about being physical, physically dominating the person across from you. But, Riley does not give a shit about being physical.

Riley has shown he can't be a HC and OC at the same time. As a HC you need to be focused on the team as a whole. When a HC is wrapped up in being a coordinator, there is little time for anyone else. As a USC, that is why I loved Pete Carroll so much. Defensive minded coach, but he has the HC first hired a DC, OC, ST, and assistants for all of them and told them his expectations and if they weren't met they were fired. Riley needs that mentality and until he does, his teams will continue to struggle. I've been pointing the finger at Riley and Grinch since last year with how bad the defense was. Still pointing the finger at both of them.

I'm a Florida guy so wouldn't know Lincoln Riley or Caleb Williams if they walked by me on the street, but after listening all off season about what an unbelievable talent Caleb was I watched a couple of his early games this year. To my eyes the hype seems to be because he can throw from lots of different arm angles...all that means is he has a live loose arm, it doesn't mean he's an elite QB talent. I certainly don't see an Elway or Marino, who both jumped off the screen in college as being able to beat better teams almost single handedly.

OU fan here. I thought he was a great offensive coordinator at OU and then he got the HC job. His first year as HC, we were 2 plays away from beating Georgia and playing for the national championship. We lost that game because OU couldn't stop a one dimensional offense. Every year after that, was worse than the previous year. When he left, I was so sick of zero defense, that I didn't care if he left. I'm glad he's gone. When he leaves USC for a pro job, they'll be glad too.

@Романо-ж2ь
@Романо-ж2ь Жыл бұрын
Yeah, they’re light years ahead of how they looked during the Baylor game and Oregon State game. It has proved the be very smart to implement Vaki into the offense- the dude is a Swiss-army knife and can really turn it up. Ja’Quinden Jackson was out for two games and against Oregon State, and you could really feel his presence when he came back. He carried that entire offense against Baylor, too. I was high on Nate Johnson when he came in against Baylor and led those final two drives, but he’s been pretty mediocre since. He looked absolutely abhorrent vs Oregon State. I think with Bryson Barnes’ number being called going forward- getting first team snaps in practice; knowing he’s the guy, and with his confidence building, that he can lead this team and be just enough of a game manager to get it done. Utes are riddled with injuries of course, and it sucks that most recently Lander Barton will be out, but Utes are very deep on defense and have that next-man-up mentality. Whomever is on the field doesn’t change the grit and will that these dudes have. I don’t know if we’ll have enough to overcome Oregon, but people know better than to bet against Utah, especially when they’re an underdog. I want them to squeeze out the win at home this week and keep their home streak alive. I think that if they can overcome Oregon that they have a better chance against Washington. Beating Oregon AND Washington is I think their only shot at a three-peat.

Here’s Webster’s Dictionary definition of Muleshoe; moo-el-shoo, a quiet west Texas town, also used as an adjective to describe person(s) capable of double speaking regarding two of their possible occupational locales while jetting unannounced to a third. Used as a verb, to describe the act of being oblivious to all superiors, the press corps, and blind devotion to one’s mutually oblivious defensive coordinator. Used in the past tense as if to be muleshoed; similar in context to a fully extended punt kick to the groin of a fan base and taking zero responsibility or questions thereof. Used in the first person as in I was muleshoed, see photo of Caleb Williams or see photo of Lincoln Riley muleshoed by photo of Alex Grinch or photos of USC and OU’s athletic directors.

When it comes to coaching, the scheme or whatever, it doesn't matter to the most important aspect of college football and that's recruiting. College football has become so competitive that if your recruiting classes are not ranked in the top three or four EVERY year, the chance of going undefeated or even just one loss is very , very small. As you know, teams lose their best players every year, so unless you truly reload at every position with the best recruits in the nation, you're on the outside looking in. Point being, coaching only goes so far because if you don't have elite talent at every position, you're not an elite team regardless of coaching. And so casual football fans always make the mistake of jumping on the hype train way too soon and get mad when they are wrong and have to blame someone instead of themselves.

Lincoln Riley is a Texas Tech football product. Great fast paced offense (unless you play a fast well coached defense) and terrible defense. Basically outscore your opponent or you loose. Being an Oklahoma fan, I've never been more frustrated than watching a 62-58 victory. Yeah we won but our defense SUCKED! It's ridiculously bad defensive scheming every game. You might just as well not have a defense take the field.

Lincoln Riley is a product of getting keys to the Rolls and cant get it out of the driveway. Look 2hat he inherited from Bob Stoops. He had a great season and went to the final 4 and made a boneheaded sqibkick before the half in the Rose Bowl against Georgia and went backwards afterwards, season by season. Same at USC. As a head coach he cannot see he needs a defense. Some of us OU fans laughed when we heard he was taking Grinch with him. Good luck USC.
