At Exterran Youngstown, Ohio we use the S350 & S500 with STT module. The 350 with dual wire feeds. It makes putting consistent downhill hard wire roots in a breeze. These multi-process units are beasts. All digital controls on wire feeder and user friendly presets already dialed in to wire size, type of metal and process make it worth the price. Makes my job alot easier.Great job Lincoln!!!

they teach you in school; don't weld downhill, bad, but all these videos ive seen agree, its the only way to hold it in place on bigger machines.

Never heard of stove-pipe welding? maybe an English phrase, but always vertical-down, cellulosic flux type electrodes, typically Lincoln Fleets (Fleetweld).

We just got 3 new 455m's to go with the 3 that were purchased 2 years ago . We have been assured that we have the lasted updates programed in to the units . They were delivered 1 1/2 months late and did not have previsions to plug in a remote , we are still waiting after a week and a half for your north western rep to wire these plugs in .He told us that he would come back the next day to wire in the remote receptacle ??? I found glitches that I would like to discuss . E-mail or contact # ??

I know this is an old thread, I work for one of the biggest fab shops in the Edmonton area. They wont buy Lincoln because of the horrible customer service and support. We have to put up with the sub standard millers instead!

Edmonton ,Alberta . There is no point in talking to John ( I think that is the Lincoln rep for the area) I believe he is part of the problem not the solution. I do not have a axe to grind with him but I believe that the discussions on machine performance never get past the shop floor to people that can actually make a difference.

so i am not a pro welder, but how do you do that in the field or at sea???... you know BFE????...why not just use a stick welder? they have used it successfully for 7 decades even on Battleships.
@420funny65 жыл бұрын
A year late but hey...basically because in a high production shop, I can weld 30+ joints a day with less waste, and get it out the door faster 👍🏻
@VicMartin806 жыл бұрын
The weld was too cold on root pass. Look at the vid one more time. Too much of a landing and not enough heat. It was not fused correctly.
@ROBERTCELE6 жыл бұрын
Do you make waving when do the pipe welding ?
@steveleake12 жыл бұрын
lack of sidewall fusion.

I have been using the STT in fab shops since they came out 7 or 8 years ago and they still have not fixed their program 1 and 2 stick mode . The stick mode on these machines is absolute garbage !! We use them for the root on some jobs but the stick fill and cap has to be done with anything but the power-wave 450. They might have a better product if they actually listened to the guy welding with these things everyday .
@lincolnelectrictv13 жыл бұрын
@1greencuda @1greencuda There have been updates to the stick welding mode. How old is the unit you are using? Send an email to facebook[at]lincolnelectric[dot]com and we can figure out what's going on.
