I am simply privileged! Not only did I experience the extraordinary Edita Gruberová about 20 times in Zurich, Munich and Vienna - all in major Belcanto roles - but two experiences stand out. Both in Zurich. This fabulous Linda Di Chamounix by Donizetti and then the amazing Beatrice Di Tenda by Bellini. She is one of the absolute best in her generation! Edita I love you forever!

Chi la critica dovrebbe provare a cantare quest'aria...è praticamente la sfida decisiva per i soprano di coloratura.

Her pitch is off on some high notes. She uses that under the note attack and warms into pitch. Never liked her.

It's exactly what I like about her the most - it sounds natural :)

She never seemed happy hitting the high notes squarely. She has always slid into them from below, which to me, makes the note less beautiful.
