Last July she had a local recurrence on her chest wall - which has been described in the press as a cancer of her pectoral muscle
Watch this video and I'll explain what it all means

When I hear someone say “I’m taking them both off so I’ll never have to worry about breast cancer again” my heart just sinks. It took my surgeon several appointments to get me to finally understand how BC recurrence works (both local and distant). It was all so confusing back then. So emotional and fear based. If you have better understanding you WILL make better choices. Thank you Dr Liz for explaining these complicated things to us. I KNOW that you have already helped so many girls make better choices. One of them is me!

Thank you so much, Liz, for this video. I was diagnosed with er+ and pr+ breast cancer on both breasts last year. Though both were at stage 1, I decided to have double mastectomy as I thought this could reduce the chance of recurrence. After the surgery, I only saw an oncologist once. Even all my appointments were under the name of that oncologist, but instead of seeing her, I saw a nurse practitioner. I asked multiple times how I can detect reccurence as both of my breasts were removed, but never got satisfying answers. Your video really helps a lot as I was told my cancer was very deep. So it could come back on the chest wall if it does. I will pay more attention to my chest and check often. Thanks again the video is really helpful. By the way, I subscribed your channel and I like it very much!

Thank Dr Liz for this information. I had a SM last Feb and after watching your video today I decided to feel around the scar and surrounding area. It’s quite hard to check though as there are lots on boney parts in this area. I presume a lump would stand out a bit more. I sometimes wish that when you get your yearly mammogram that someone professional could also just check over you masectomy side just to give you some peace of mind.

Thanks so much for doing this video, now I know what to look for after Her2 breast cancer 90mm and had mastectomy with no reconstruction 5 years ago. I have my final mammogram tomorrow on the other breast and I'm feeling anxious today. I just love how you are so informative, never had this level of information post breast cancer treatment from my medical team they just said if you notice anything different contact us which is rather vague.... thankyou Liz you are really making a difference 💕

Thank you again, Liz, for this speedy update. Poor Linda! Your explanation was very informative to me, as my actual recurrence started from the Pectoralis muscle as well inspite of radiation Had never heard that before... All the best for you! Beate

My cancer also was either very near or partly in the pectoral muscle because my largest margin was taken in the muscle. I had never before or since heard of this type of growth on anyone else. I haven’t heard it discussed or written about either until now with the news of Linda Evangelista’s recurrence (thanks again famous person). I do quite a lot of self checks but will be even MORE vigilant now, even though this area is quite sore and “weird” so I hope I would even be able to feel properly. My cancer was also the kind that grows more in sheets than lumps so I’m sure this makes it even more of a challenge to detect on your own. Best of luck to us both on keeping ourselves healthy and strong and for long happy cancer-free lives!

So glad I found you ! I am 5 years post B.C , luckily I found the lump myself when it was v small stage 1 phase 1 estroegen positive. I was 64 and had a lumpectomy, radiation and thankfully no chemo just Arrimidex which I have now finished . I will be vigilant for any changes around my scar thanks to you’re advise 👍

I’m waiting to see my consultant after a lumpectomy (Er+ HER2 low invasive mixed ductal and lobular cancer) will I have to ask about the chances of recurrence for me? Or will I be told? Also will my consultant now be able to confirm grade and stage of my cancer ? I guess I will be told the results of my breast and sentinel nodes biopsy and what treatment will be going forward. Thank you for your many information videos they have helped me tremendously ❤

Would it help if I had a MRI annually to find any cancer? I had a mastectomy two months ago. Stage 3. Declined chemo but taking tamoxifen. Fingers crossed 🤞

Well, what I am wondering is .. did she undergo any treatments the first time or she just had the surgery as treatment? Because I understood that she did radio and chemo this time, the second time, but did she do chemo and radio the first time?
