One thing I love about Family is it was one show that always had integrity. Never any cheesy storylines or playing a character for laughs. Each actor carried their role with such professionalism and faced the difficult situations head on. I miss this kind of show.

same! Well, not James Broderick, but older than everyone else in this episode...Probably cause I was 4 years old when this originally aired...but still...I now relate to Doug and Kate's 'middle aged' take on life 😅

Wow, great episode thanks for sharing. Linda Lavin is outstanding here: tough, soft, vulnerable, witty, warm….she hits all the right notes in a rather difficult portrayal. “Annie Laurie” also won the 1979 Humanitas Prize award for 60 minute programs. “Family” won this award three times in five years.

My parents were VERY strict about allowing me to watch any tv show, so I began to scheduling babysitting jobs just so I could watch Family lol! Missed this show and it covered many topics that had been taboo up until this time!

wondering if we had the same parents?! lol... cause this and many other relevant TV shows late '70s/early '80s were strictly forbidden in my house as well...ONLY way I could feel like I had a clue about what was happening in the real world at the time was to babysit...like all the time...Got me out of the confines of rigidity and allowed me to discover awesome shows like this one

One of my all time favorite series. Great cast, interesting subjects. Sada Thompson was perfect in her role. I used to watch it every Sunday night. My Grandmother would always ask me if I was going to come into the den and ask if I was going to watch "Sada" with her. It was on at 10 p.m. here, some of the subjects they covered were too "racy" for prime time, in the 70s. Unmarried people were having sex (clutching my pearls)!

There’s no way in the world Linda Lavin’s character Annie would have fallen in love with an old, married man... she’s too attractive to settle. BTW, the exterior shot of the hotel Linda Lavin’s character is staying at is The Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, California.

LINDA LAVIN OF ALICE THE WAITRESS FAME ON A CBS SITCOM. WITH VIC TAYBACK & THE WAITRESS W/BIG HAIR & GUM SMACKING & WISECRACKING FAME. IN MY OPINION A LITTLE INNOCENT FLIRTING IS GOOD FOR AN EGO BOOST. I WOULD NEVER CROSS THE LINE. TOO MANY PEOPLE WOULD GET HURT!!!! GREAT SHOW & WRITING & ACTORS!!!! I'VE BEEN BINGE WATCHING EVERY CHANGE I GET!!!! YEA!!!!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!!!!😊👍💝😃🫶💕💋♥️🌙🤣😘💓😊😍🌄👌😁💕♥️🌙🎨💰🙄😲👍👌😊🙏💕 I aways thought Gary Frank would go father in the tv/ film bushes. I liked him alot!!! THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF AFFAIRS EMOTIONAL & PHYSICAL. I'M GUILTY OF HAVING AN EMOTIONAL ONE WHEN MY MARRIAGE WAS FAILING I TURNED TO A HIGH SCHOOL CLASSMATE FOR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT PRIOR TO MY DIVORCE. I NEVER FELT GUILTY. MY EX HUSBAND KNEW HOW TO PLAY POOL/ BILLARDS AS DID HIS OLDER BROTHERS ALL THREE OF THEM. THIS YEAR HAS BEEN A REAL ROLLERCOASTER RIDE. SIX MONTHS AGO MY EX DIED UNEXPECTEDLY & SUDDENLY. OUR ADULT MILLENNIAL CHILDREN TOOK IT HARD. LIFE IS UNFAIR & BRUTAL TOO. IT SUCKS!!!!! This was an excellent episode reminding us of what we have in each other when there is communication & trust & love with emotional support. SINGLES MUST LEARN HOW TO EXIST AS A SINGLE PERSON GOING ALONE TO EAT & GOING TO FILMS ALONE. THE GRASS MAY SEEM TO BE GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE!!!
