My wife’s baby sister was married in 1993, and Mary’s favorite song was “All My Life” by Aaron Neville and Linda Ronstadt. She had the bright idea to have me and my niece sing that beautiful song with an accompaniment track. Kasha, my niece is a trained vocalist. Me? I was a 38 year old country singer wanna-be. Rehearsal was a disaster and I literally begged Mary to simply play the track. I knew I’d lost when she turned on the waterworks. Saturday afternoon came, I’m scared spitless, still looking for a way out where there wasn’t one. Kasha and I took our places, bride and groom patiently waited, and the music started. I know prayers work, because I made it through the song ok. Everyone was happy. I was just glad it was over. I did tell Mary that my falsetto days were past, and to NEVER ask something like that of me again. Wouldn’t you know it, after 2 beautiful daughters and 30 years of marriage, she tried to pull it again. She didn’t win; and I have too much respect for Mr Neville to try it when in my late 60s. Neville & Ronstadt were magic. Ricks and niece, not so much.

You mentioned your kids being happy to see you at the end of the day. My husband is an OTR truck driver and I was a teacher at a military boarding high school. Our son was a cadet, but we ended up being legal in loco parentis for several cadets whose parents left the country during the school year. When they had leave or furloughs, they'd stay at our house and often they'd each bring friends or their roommates with them. On top of our own, we'd have our 3-4 "after-market" kids, plus their friends. My poor husband would come home to 8 or 10 kids in our 3 bedroom 1 bath home. After he parked his truck, I'd go out to hug him, then the kids would go. Everyone wanted a hug from Pops. I distinctly remember him hugging one little girl and looking over her shoulder and mouthing, "Do I know this one?" It didn't matter to him, though. She got the same warm dad-hug and kiss on the cheek everyone else got.

@@larrywright3132 You're confusing two different groups, both related to Linda. The ponies were her first group, not really great, but Kenny Edwards played guitar in a lot of later Lind's bands. Years later Linda had Glen Frey and Don Henley in her backup band, and the two were talking about forming going together. Linda suggested Bernie Leadon, her then manager John Boylan got Randy Meisner, and the Eagles was born. They actually rehearsed in Linda's living room, and toured as her backup band for a while. Dear Sebs, Having seen The Beatles and been at Woodstock, I can assure you that our generation revered, and continues to revere the music of our time. As someone who has been involved with the music business as a writer, player and engineer for over 50 years, I often find myself telling younger musicians that, while it's wonderful they love the music I grew up with, my greatest wish is that they go out and write the songs that they as parents will share with their kids when they reach their fifties. There are memorable songs being written today although they tend to get lost in an ocean of mediocrity. Thank you for what you are doing and the sincerity of your reactions. I am encouraged to know that younger listeners much prefer true artists that can deliver honesty in the studio and on stage. Peace.

I remember when this beautiful song was released and it was my introduction to Aaron Neville as well. I had long know Linda’s incredible voice but not Aaron’s. Anyway, I adore watching the various “reaction videos” and the responses to songs from times past that they are experiencing for the first time. So thank you. It was fun seeing your reaction.

Big vibrato voice. So pure. So beautiful. Linda Rondstadt beautiful ! I feel so badly that she has lost her voice . God bless her. So glad I saw her in concert in the early 80s.

Truly sad she's lost her voice and her livelihood. How devastating it must be for her 😢.

Im 82, it is such a joy to hear these two sing this song again. Its almost like it was written for just Aaron and Linda to sing. He brings so much emotion into his part. Thanks for playing REAL music. I miss it.

Aaron and his brother(s) had the Neville Brothers band. Linda is just a walking dream of a vocalist. This combination was magical with these 2.

My mother’s very first concert back in the late 60s was Aaron Neville and the Neville Brothers with Roy Orbison. I come to love Linda Ronstadt in the early 70s and the two of them together it’s just match it. I absolutely love love love this song.

My friend, no one is responsible for the culture that surrounds them as they grow up. Just immerse yourself in great music and it will become a foundational strength within you. I am so grateful to have been raised in a time when music was amazing.

Aaron Neville "it feels like rain" sounds like what it felt like to grow up in Savannah Ga in the 60s & 70s. His emotional ability is amazing!

This was the quintessential wedding song in its day. And definitely check out the Neville Brothers.
