Meatloaf created what is called Rock Opera. The BAT OUT OF HELL ALBUM IS EPIC. TWO OUT OF THREE AIN'T BAD IS MY SONG. Many years ago a man dedicated TWO OUT OF THREE AIN'T BAD TO ME. He said he wanted me needed me but he'd never fall in love with me. I loved him so I never gave up, eventually he did fall in love with me and asked me to marry him. Been a Meatloaf fan my whole life and I'm 56. Jim Stineman wrote most of the songs Meatloaf sang. They were an amazing team. This just happens to be one of my favorite songs of his and I believe the song and video he did after this song was I'd Lie for you ( and that's the truth) and it's like a part 2 to this song. Steinman was known for his style which became coined as Wagnerian Rock. He wrote many hits for Bonnie Tyler as well. He did some musical theater as well. rock opera stuff. RIP JS

I loved Meatloaf in the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I read an interview with him once...he was talking about volunteering at his kids' schools during their elementary and middle schools years, helping the teachers with staging, directing, costuming, etc. little performances as well as skits involving the kids. He loved it, just as he did participating in their other childhood activities. He sounded like he was a great dad, and I admire him for that.

Fell in love with Meat over 40 years ago.. I'm 71 now got to see him once at Warwick Castle here in UK.. Even queued in the rain to get a signed CD of Bat 111 had to save up to buy the CD player to listen to it a few weeks later he was a singer, story teller, TV Actor, films too, Fight Club, Rocky Horror and others.. a perfectionist. Very intelligent, and so sensitive too. The last time I saw him on TV was just prior to his death on an episode of Ghost Hunters, he was brilliant at that too.. so sadly missed by us all. Just completely broke my heart when I heard of his passing.. Cried all the way through this video, but thank you Sebs I truly enjoyed it

This song was a huge hit back then. I think 20yrs between hits. But for some reason the mainstream didn't like him so they played this over and over and over to the point people got sick of it. That's how they killed his music. So in this song I think he took the opening lines and moved them to the end of the song. If you heard the last lines first you would understand what the song is about. However would it have been as intriguing? So by moving the opening to the end of the song it kept you wondering and engaged? What do ya'll think? I was in H.S. when this came out.

The video was directed by Michael Bay, who directed the Transformer movies, among others. So you weren't too far off when you said that you were getting Terminator vibes at the beginning. The imagery is a cross between Bram Stoker's Dracula and Beauty and the Beast. He tells you what he won't do for love right before he tells you that he won't do that. "I'll never forget the way you feel right now.", I'll never lie to you, and that's a fact.", "I'll never do it better than i do it with you.", "I'll never stop dreaming of you every night of my life." etc. Brilliantly written song, and of course Meatloaf could belt it. Such a showman.

I remember seeing Meatloaf in an interview shortly before he passed. He explained that, like any actor, he had a character for each song. During the course of a concert, he would have to change characters as many times as there were songs. When you see his videos and his live performances, you can totally see that.

I saw Meatloaf live around 1985 or 86. He'd broken his leg the night before when he'd fallen off the stage. The night we went and saw him, he was still jumping around on stage, it probably helped that he didn't stop drinking all night...but it was one of the best live performances I've ever seen.

It's okay: my mouth was hanging open when I first heard this song and That Voice when it was released in 1993, when I was six years old. 30 years on, it's still the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. Captivating is exactly the word. When Meat Loaf and composer Jim Steinman were auditioning their debut 1977 album "Bat Out of Hell" around the record labels (all the big ones turned them down), one executive told Steinman "he didn't know how to write a song", and the only way to write a song was to use the ABC format that you described early on. Thank goodness that neither he nor Meat took any notice of him. I constantly have Meat and Jim riding shotgun with me in my car. You actually don't want the journey to end because you're having so much fun!

You need to check out the album version of this. Twelve minutes of absolute perfection. Both Bat Out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell II are masterpieces. You have to check out Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are (he won a Grammy), if you haven't already. Other songs I recommend, either for the channel or just for a listen are I'd Lie For You (And That's The Truth), Everything Louder than Everything Else, Life Is A Lemon And I Want My Money Back, Not A Dry Eye In The House, Couldn't Have Said It Better, Man of Steel (his daughter is on this one) and Testify.

Jim Steinman was a genius song writer who past recently, even did an album that was for Meat Loaf when Meat had voice problems - an excellent album that might have be Bat Out Of Hell 2... ...worth finding and listening too.

In every verse, the things that he WON'T do are stated directly, usually by saying something like "But I'll never lie to you, and that's a fact". Rather than the Phantom of the Opera, this is a love story for one or more vampires. At the end, when she's singing, a specific question she asks is if he'd hose her down with holy water if she got too hot. So far as I know of in folklore, the only monsters affected by holy water are vampires or demons. From what I've heard, the video was directed by Michael Bay, which would make it one of his best cinematic efforts.

Absolutely love Meatloaf. He was was one of my favorite singers as a teenager, I think I drove my mom crazy listening to that particular song over and over again. Thanks for bringing back some great memories of my youth. I would really love you to do a reaction of Dimash Qudaibergen, a singer from Kazakhstan. It’s been said he is the best singer in the world today. Most people start out listening to SOS a song that brought him to world fame, when he sung it on a Chinese show, The Singer. However one of my favorite is IKANAIDE , it’s a song he sang in Mandarin, but then he sings it in Japanese, the original version of the song. I love your reaction channel. I will warn you that if you do react to Dimash you have to watch out for copyright issues. But there are ways around that, and I’m sure you could find a way to get around that. The album “Bat Out of Hell” is written as an opera. Starting from the first song, it tells a story. Each song tells a part of the story. I’ve been a huge Meatloaf fan since about 1980. Listen to “For Crying Out Loud”. It’s my favorite.

Yep I get it. The love of my life was junior yr high school. Googled him 35 yrs later, im in FL, he in NJ. We did our thing for over a yr and then he died from Hep C. I am so glad I had the time with him that I had. Love you Billy and I always have and will.

In Canada we still hear this on Radio, but it is the recorded versions. I know it was turned ito a Broadway production, but if you grew up with this, they ca'nt take away someting they never owned and say watch this. HE was epic, maybe just maybe it became a Broadway show cause he was celebrated! Weird as he was himself.
