The voice, and look of an Angel...every young man back in the day was in love with her (me included😂). She is a generational talent, one of the giants! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 little fact: the Eagles were once her back up band before they struck out on their own!

"Blue Bayou" was originally recorded by Roy Orbison on his legendary 1963 album In Dreams. While it only scored as high as #29 in the US (despite scoring #1 in Ireland and #10 in Norway), Linda Ronstadt took it to far greater fame as her only gold-selling single and her signature song. Linda Ronstadt has been called "the most successful and certainly the most durable and most gifted woman rock singer of her era" in Andrew Greeley's book God in Popular Culture. Carole King; I Feel the Earth Move or pretty much anything from Tapestry really, amazing album from a woman who'd spent her life writing songs for other people. More recent; Radiohead, Muse, Pearl Jam or Stone Temple Pilots. The Pixies are really cool too, Where is my Mind or This Monkey. Nirvana are awesome, or Foo Fighters or The Queen's of the Stone Age. There's so much music I'd love to share with you, I'll just shut up, and let you be you, I won't even mention Ode to Joy from Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. My first moment in Africa was when my friend's father, a high ranking Naval Officer, met me at the Lagos airport gate dressed in the finest Nigerian gown I have ever seen. Well known and revered, he led me to the front of the customs and immigration lines. We were out of there in a few minutes. Not yet knowing Nigerian custom, this oyeebo politely declined his offer to stay in his home. He took me to a hotel. After a quick shower, I went outside and took a taxi to Fela Shrine. I saw, perhaps, the best performance I have ever seen. The next day, I hit the road and took a bus to Benin City for a couple days, then Warri for a few more days. Next came the first city I really loved, Port Harcourt - tranquil and vibrant - I stayed there over a week. There are many things to love about Nigeria (Lagos is not one :) ) - the people, the food, the culture. One of my favorite things is the music. So, Oba Joy-Jean, I have listened to many of your first reactions to mostly American and UK music. Perhaps, you could kindly share some wonderful Nigerian music for your audience to react to. If you do, you will become my first subscription! For the first time, this year, Fela has been nominated to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. One of his great masterpieces might be particularly suitable.

He vocal range is just amazing and she was definitely a singers singer.

Hey E Thorn.....technically the Eagles were never her backup band....my understanding is 2 guys were looking to put a band together and after jamming with her band she suggested those 2 and 2 from her band that really clicked should play together and when they agreed she let the 2 from her band go......They became the Eagles....Thx
@tomaroni66703 жыл бұрын
Linda Ronstadt was a very good singer/songwriter.....but she was also very smart in the music industry and shared her knowledge throughout her circle of friends as a selfless supporter and fan of ALL music....Willie, Waylon, Johnny Cash just to name a few.......Once on tour she ran into a couple of musicians that were looking to put a band together so her and her band spent the afternoon jamming......at the end of the day she suggested 2 members of her own band join with the other two to start a band because they really played well together.....Those 4 musicians introduced to each other by Linda became The Eagles......and NOW....you know the rest of the story including how selfless Linda was to music.....
