I grew up in California and had such a crush on the dear lady. You all sang the ballad wonderfully, thank you. Doug Moore.

Linda getting those high notes. Her vocal talents were other-worldly. Such a tragedy that her great gift was taken away from her.

Linda is so gracious singing with others. Her powerful vocals could draw focus, but she’s a team player and tries to blend.

Ronstadt took voice lessons in the early 80's and she said it helped her discover her higher registers. You can hear the pay off in this video. Bravo, Linda! I just wish this song was a little longer.

I have several albums/CDs of the McGarrigle sister that I bought many years ago. Always loved their very unique harmony and interesting songs. Never knew until tonight that our beautiful Linda Ronstadt sang with them. With all the different styles of music that we have heard from her, this is just one more example of her talent and perfect voice. Loved her when I was 20, love her still now that I'm 73. How many stars can you say that about.

They sang with her on the Western Wall, the Tuscan Sessions with Emmylou Harris as well, and the 4 of them (Linda, Emmylou, Kate and Anna) sang together on the song Golden Ring from the Tammy Wynette Remembered CD

If ever there was a finer songwriter than Stephen Collins Foster, those of us who are songwriters do not know him.
@lindaeasley56063 жыл бұрын
He composed such beautiful ,poetic songs Most of them with a sad tone perhaps reflective of his own life. The father of American music and what we would come to know as pop music
@irrigationjoehenggeler28633 жыл бұрын
Sadly, his songs aren't taught in our schools anymore. In 1957 my father was stationed in Japan and over there, everywhere you went, you heard Japanese people playing Foster's music.
@katperson7332 Жыл бұрын
@@irrigationjoehenggeler2863 in the 50s in primary school here in Scotland we learned many of his songs. I still love them all. When I was a teacher myself from the 70s to about 2003 I managed to teach quite a few of Foster’s songs, but then PC arrived and well-you know the rest!

Foster wrote this song based on a sad story. One winter's evening in the town he lived (Cincinnati?), the parents of a girl down the street from him had sent their daughter out to fetch a pail of milk. She was run over by wagon and killed. All the neighbors were heartbroken & Foster wrote the song.

Their LP's from the 70's are a real treasure. Some amazing songs such as Kitty Come Home, Talk to me of Mendocino. If you can find them buy them.

beldengi Talk To Me of Mendocino is such a part of my early adulthood. It almost brings me to tears every time I hear it. LOVE that album. I had the privilege of seeing Kate and Anna many times on the folk festival circuit. I'm very close to my Sisters, so I can imagine how much Anna ( and Jane, Rufus and Martha) miss Kate. As for Linda - all I can say is it's a cruel thing indeed to be robbed of such a stunning voice.

Theres a brilliant documentary about her out now
@lnl32374 жыл бұрын
...just saw an interview with her on CBS related to the upcoming Kennedy Center Honors event that will be broadcast on December 15th. Ms. Ronstadt looked well, although obviously weakened by her Parkinson's; still very much herself-witty, modest and unfiltered! It would be a miracle if she attends the ceremony as she was unable to make it to the RRHOF five years ago due to the difficulty of travel. Just so wonderful to see her celebrated like this; not because she wants or needs it, but because we, the joyful consumers of her music, get to revisit the magical musical odyssey on which she took us, and to satisfy our deepest need to express our gratitude for the blessings of that voice!
