Linda is amazing, rock, country, light opera, the Great American Songbook, and Latin music. She has earned 11 Grammy Awards, 31 gold and platinum records. My favorite linda story, she wanted to do a Latin album. her record label said it would ruin her career, she did it and it became the largest selling Latin album in American history, Also same story for her "Standards" album, it went Platinum. She is a LEGEND.

Yes! We need more Linda! This is from the Johnny Cash television show, probably around 1970 when the song was released. She would go on to explode with “You’re No Good” to become the preeminent female vocalist of 70’s popular music before expanding to other genres to great success. Blue Bayou became her signature song and showcases her amazing range and control. Someone To Lay Down Beside Me is a favorite, but you can’t go wrong with her because of the emotion and vocal highlights she brings to any song. And the capabilities she displays on her mariachi-backed performance of La Cigarra are simply amazing!

For a while she was a trio with Dolly Parton and Emmy Lou Harris. They were the darlings of Country music. She spent a stint singing Mexican classics (in Spanish, mostly) then she changed to doing turn of the century American classics. She's getting on in years now but has developed a paralyzing disability and hasn't been able to sing for a long time. My favorite, though a very simple one, is "I never shall marry". She was fond of the simple little known songs.

I grew up listening to Linda Ronstadt and bought most of her early albums. I also saw her in a small club in the '70s and will never forget the experience. I agree with you that her music conveys emotion in a way sorely lacking in most of the new music we hear today. I am just thankful that there are still some genuine artists around, though they have trouble breaking through the noise considered music these days. One such person who exudes emotion and affects me in the way that Linda did, is Angelia Jordan. She is bringing back class to the music industry.

The recorded version came out in 1970. Every live version, and they are all live in the ensuing time frame post release, whether it’s this long version, or the short version you watch, Linda nails each and every one as if it was the master recording. Your reaction was spot on .. wow is the only reaction.

FYI her last name is pronounced Ron-stat. Nice one by her. Do not know what you've covered by Linda already. My favorite song she did was her cover of the Eagle's song called "Desperado". No denying her talent. Linda was a bigtime name/artists when I was a kid growing up in the 1970's. Back then she was everywhere and you could not turn the radio dial without bumping into some of her stuff. Thank you for your reaction. Like the super-sexy accent. Big shoutout from an old, longhaired, rocker from across the pond in the mountains of East Tennessee. U.S.A.. Very nice to see your generation discovering our music. Peace and love. Go with God. Later.

When I was 15 a neighbor of mine wrote the song back on the street again, we walked in after school and she was napping on their couch, she woke up and said we all should sing, like her family had . Years later I was living near where she lived in San Francisco with the state governor, she looked around and screamed I hope she did not recognize me, just once

Don't feel bad about not having heard of her before. She was mainly huge in the US during her heyday in the 1970s and '80s, not so much in other countries for some reason, and I've noticed that a lot of young people also haven't heard of her. A lot of young people these days haven't heard of Barbra Streisand either. Times change and awareness changes.

Singing should be viewed as the greatest method of story telling. There was a reason Bards were singers and not just talkers. Music draws you in and the word crafting delivered the message. If either are missing, it doesn't hit as hard.

Linda Ronstadt is one of the best female singers & can sing any genre from ballads to country to rock & even opera. She has had so many hits such as "Different Drum", "Blue Bayou", "You're No Good", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me", "Desperado" etc. Ronstadt also did two great duets, "Somewhere Out There" (with James Ingram) & "Don't Know Much" (with Aaron Neville). The Eagles were her backing band till they went out on their own & she has covered a lot of their songs. Linda also collaborated with Dolly Parton & Emmylou Harris on a few "Trio" albums.

This song You really can't call this guy a heel. He has done nothing to her. She says he doesn't even know who she is. Sounds a bit like a sophomore girl with the Senior 'captain of the football team' situation in life. He isn't at all responsible for the pain she feels and she knows it. Unfortunately that doesn't make the pain any easier to bare.
