paxonearth, apparently, she was cheating on you with my husband. He still drools over her old album covers. Anytime she has been on an interview or documentary, I tell him "you're girlfriend's on tonight" and he say's "Linda? What time and channel?" It's sad she has lost her beautiful voice to illness. Talent galore, that one! Namaste.

There were many great bands on "The Midnight Special" and it was on regular TV for free every week. I do not remember any really long songs, so I guess some songs may have been truncated to allow for commercials. Too bad there aren't even enough really good bands around today to even have such a show for weeks on end.

Mudnight Special was a pop music variety program that aired Saturday nights in 1975. Linda Ronstadt became the finest, most popular, best-selling, critically aclaimed woman vocalist of those years and beyond mastering rock & roll oldies, classic country and eventually lush jazz big band standards and Spanish language canciones. I will also mention that she recenty obtained a Ph. D, Doctorate degree from the University of Arizona. What a combination of good looks, singing talent and intelligence.

Linda Rondstadt pretty much owned the radio in the 1970's. "Blue Bayou" was a massive hit for her. And her version the Everly Brothers song "When Will I Be Loved" was gigantic as well. "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" is a lot of fun and so is her cover of The Rolling Stones "Tumbling Dice". The guy at the beginning was José Feliciano. He's best known for "Feliz Navidad," but his cover of "Light My Fire" rivals that of The Doors original. Also check out his versions of "Windmills of Your Mind" and "Marley Purt Drive" when you can. Excellent guitar player.

Yes, bands were often given specific amounts of time in order to get as many acts on as possible. Many times bands would increase the timing of the song to fit the time slot. This live version is definitely faster than the LP version. One of the more notorious time limits was when Focus performed their hit Hocus Pocus. which was around 6:40 in length in only 4:30. They were flying through the song.
