your the reason last summer I went and got a big canning pan and made my first raspberry jam! My dad and grandfather can every year from their gardens but I never have because I don't have a garden or room for one. It was extra special because years ago my grandfather gave me a bunch of his old canning jars because I told him I was going to make some body scrubs( I never did LoL). I still have those jars and put the jam in them. He passed 8 yrs ago so I got a little emotional while canning with them :) Cant wait to can again soon this summer!!!!

wow! I never heard of the stone fruit term before, guess it means anything with a pit? This jam looks so delicious! All the fruit in it, wow! I bet its so yummy. thank you linda, one day i need to try this canning thing. i really do. im loving how easy you make everything look. and so delicious looking too. Question: when you cut fruit for canning and it's chunky, does it soften to the point of being able to spread it easily on bread? or does it stay firm and chunky? can you tell Ive never canned before? LOL
@raynechantel2738
@raynechantel2738 6 жыл бұрын
Sabrina Aguilera My experience has been that cooking time determines the softness of the fruit. Then of course canning it also does too - but if you are just making a freezer jam, you'd want to make sure you cooked it to the softness you prefer since you would not be canning it but placing it in the freezer. Hope this helps. Stone fruits/jams are easy and taste great.

I really want to make this... I do wish you would put in the description the recipe so it would be easy to print out for shopping. ;) One more thing.. is it 2 1/2 cups of each kind of cherries or a mix of both kinds but just 2 1/2 cups total?
@LindasPantry
@LindasPantry 6 жыл бұрын
After producing the video editing the video uploading the video and giving you all the measurements in the video I do not have time to write that down for everyone because you can tweak it to your liking I use equal parts of cherries for a total maybe you don't have Rainier cherries
@cheriwilliams8
@cheriwilliams8 6 жыл бұрын
I didn't know if the recipe was a matter of copying and pasting it from a recipe file on your computer.. Sorry if I offended you. I did watch the video a few times to get the amounts written down in my phone so I could just take that when I shop for ingredients.. . What I really was confused about was if the cherries were a total of 2 1/2 cups including both kinds mixed.. (That is what it looks like to me) But, I'd hate to put 5 cups of cherries in if that is double what I was suppose too.. I think I can get both kinds also.. The jam looks excellent and I really think we would like it.. I have tried several of your recipes and love all of them! Thanks.. Cheri
@raynechantel2738
@raynechantel2738 6 жыл бұрын
Cheri Williams - if you look at the Ball Blue Book for canning, you will see that the blackberry jam recipe calls for 3 cups (just an example) of berries, but you can substitute raspberries or cherries if you don't have enough to make up the 3 cups - play around with it - the worst thing that might happen is you end up with runny jam and you either call it syrup or you reprocess it! Either way it's a learning process and delicious in the end. :)

Thank you so much for the information Rayne... I am a newbie on this and don't have the book.. guess I should pick it up.. The only jam I have made is strawberry freezer jam, which I really love but hate to have to keep Jam in the freezer.. This looks good so I want to try it but dang.. Fruit can be expensive if you screw it up so I wanted to be sure before I get started.. Your message helped a LOT!!

I end up watching the video a second time, pausing it as I write down the instructions. Backing up whenever I need to. But I also save the video to the category it best fits ie. Canning, Preserving, Thrive Foods. Then I can watch and pause when I try the recipe out for myself as refer to my written instructions.
