This has become my go-to for vocals. It's one of those plugins that instantly sound good. You can get great results very quickly. The Eq bands combine perfectly, the compressor has a nice, bright color and the saturation fits the overall sound. Highly recommend trying this out!

Using Console N as a Channelstrip workhorse and this unit as an 'outboard EQ' gives absolute insane results! A rich analogue sound that easily holds up with the sound of my favourite producers (known to have nice desks, mixers and outboard gear). Producing electronic music in the box and longing for mixing desk non-linearities and fat/raw analog sound, this is absolute a no-brainer. Plugin Alliance is definitely the king right now!

I've been adding the NA Need 84 and Need Pre Trilogy -(73/81/84) to my Lindell 80 Channel and Bus . . . They play nice together . . . ! . . . Like at a Family Reunion BBQ . . . ! . . . And with the Lindell 80 Bus and Channel as the Foundation . . . The Need 84 comes sniffing around, saying . . . "Hey, What's Cooking over Here . . . !?@y@?! . . . ! . . . After a long hiatus, tried to mix with this and a few other newer plugins that have transformer emulation. Plugs have come so far! Not much difference to hardware anymore. It's also fast to mix with this plugin. Just a few bands you can boost or cut, and it sounds good. So damn easy to make stuff sound good and separated in the midrange. That transformer sound modern plugs give is like a really expensive sounding finishing touch. Almost like passing audio through hardware. Lindell, Kiive and Pulsar. These guys know their stuff! Highly recommended.

Kickass....I've been waiting for someone to make a plug-in like the Waves NLS with the channel and mix buss, but with the 1084 model, like the 8028 console at Sound City. It seems everyone does a 1073 emulation, but the 1084 is overlooked.
@mixingwithmike5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this is the only 1084 emulation that I know of. The 31102 is another great one from the 8068 that was a favorite of mine.

I urge you to review Acustica Audio's Gold3 if you liked this Lindell 80 series! I trialled it recently and was blown away by the preamps (particularly bus 72 and 73), so i bought it last night. Would love to see a deep dive on the plugin from you. P.s. i bought your advanced mastering course a few hours ago, after years of following your youtube channel for free. Can't wait to dive in. Bless you. Bless you very much.

RUN do not walk to get this Lindell 80. Amazing 5 ways to Sunday. Watched a video of Robin from Neve talking about the BCM10 (sidecar 8028 kinda for $40k) to get more under the hood info from Neve and learn more about the sections. Gonna save that $40K for now! Putting the bus module across the busses? **lsdfoaiwefn(droool)lakf;oawenfw!** Stoopid good! Very exciting to work with. Between this and the Focusrite, PA has me questioning my Slate sub. Thanks for your videos, Mike! Your experience is invaluable!

I think emulations of Vintage equipment should ditch those fixed frequencies. Those were technical and/or economical limitations of their time and you can’t tell me that engineers of that time weren’t happy when new EQs and console channels came out which didn’t have those limitations. At least make it optional, like e.g. shift+click let’s you fine tune the frequencies. Or the other way round like DMGaudio did with their trackcomp: even for the vintage emulations you have all the flexibility of modern software but when using the alt-key it gives you the stepped parameters with the original values (like the stepped attack of a SSLbus compressor).
@mixingwithmike5 жыл бұрын
You make a good point, but I am a bit divided on this. The fixed frequencies are part of the sound and it forces you to be resourceful the same way engineers from that time needed to be to achieve a great sounding record. My biggest frustration with using the 1073 was wanting that extra mid band. that's why I like the 1081 EQ the best for flexibility in that regard. Kinda the best of both worlds. If I had a complaint here, I wish I had the ability to change the order of the components to EQ after compression. Cheers! Mike
@shane29735 жыл бұрын
That interesting...I heard Sylvia Massy say how much she likes the 1073 style Eq for that reason because its difficult to mess up. I actually like the thought of that as well.. There are SO many options for continuously Variable EQ's, Slate's 1073 doesn't have the fixed frequencies if I remember correctly, that I actually dig this style myself, again for the reasons Michael was describing...all good stuff!

What would be the difference in real world usage regarding the Lindell 80 and the Console-N?
@mixingwithmike5 жыл бұрын
80 series consoles were designed by Rupert Neve, no compressors on every channel as you see in this plugin. These are the most iconic consoles in Neve's history. All consoles after these were designed by other engineers that worked for Neve. The BX Console N is an emulation of the Neve VXS, a late 90's console with compressors on every channel and a way more sophisticated signalflow and design. It has variable freqs on the EQs and also has gates on every channel. Sonically, they are both great sounding consoles but the 80 series has a much more uniquely rich tonal character to it than the VSX which is more transparent with a better high frequency response. The 80 series Neve's have richer low mids and low end that images more clearly than any other consoles out there. The tradeoff is a slight lack of clarity and smoothness on the top end. Hope this answers your question...
