Hilary is sweet but she's just so boring and safe. Lindsay is edgy, unpredictable and gorg. what's weird is that they're both coming back with Hilary's (lame but hope it's good) return as Lizzie Maguire and Lindsay with this music and hopefully God good movies again. She’s a child star who inherited the disease of addiction (a form of OCD in my opinion, as someone who has “both” coughitsthesamethingcough and has been sober for years now) from her father. Her being the biggest it girl during the rise of her addictions was a recipe for disaster. It’s hard enough to stop when you lose everything let alone when you are literally a star w access too everything and endless money (at least like to a druggie/alchie)... and have had yes men around you your entire life. She was in the perfect space to be able to make excuses and not look at herself in the mirror because she never really faced consequences... I mean she has like eight mugshots and like one day jail time. I’ve never in life, in all my druggie years on the street, seen someone take so long to get off of probation. Then wear “fuck you” on her nails.... cause she was mad she couldn’t get off of probation because SHE didn’t follow the requirements. She’s a textbook addict in her behavior, but one who’s very obviously not accepted it fully, and if she has, she has never made a sincere attempt at the twelve steps or any other serious “self improvement for addicts” type of thing to learn about addiction and try to fight her demons.... She’s an alcoholic too, mainly, which is a lot harder to admit to yourself in full bc it’s legal so it doesn’t have the same thing as drugs where every single time you do it you know you really shouldn’t be... you get a feeling like, “I should be able to have a drink like everyone else!” but it’s like the same as being deathly allergic to chocolate. Does it suck? Yup. Does dying suck more? Yup. So you gotta keep away from it. She has a mental illness and didn’t care to try and fight it... or to work.... not even when Oprah gave her 2million dollars for a reality tv show basically just to be nice... that’s her story. And now she’s stuck sleeping with rich businessmen in Dubai to keep up her and her family’s lifestyle when she should be performing because she was talented and if she got treatment and back to the clearest form of herself, she would be performing. But she just doesn’t ever want to try. Trying and failing is admirable. Even if an addict tries everyday and fails every night and then tries again the next day, that says a lot more than someone just totally not willing to put up a fight or face their flaws and issues. I hope she finally will in her thirties (do AA for real or other treatment that rewires her understandably odd way of thinking so she’ll have the strength to fight her demons) and have a comeback in her forties like we’ve seen so many actors do after having addiction issues or other issues mess up their career when they were younger.... It would be so cool if she got herself together for REAL and then played some perfect part when she was like 42 (hopefully it will continue to be more fair and the parts for women as they age will continue to get better over time so that is possible) and won an award for it. That would be so touching to see.
