There are so many aspects of what is being spoken of, that are so transferable into all indigenous communities and self determining, autonomous communities, that much of what we, all over the world, can learn from what caused the protests and battles, the movements and communities which learned to work and protest together peacefully, and apart on their own home turfs, and how Parihaka as a movement has evolved, and is yet evolving, and how innovation, indigenous local wisdom, science, and sustainability can all work together as we learn to do so. Big commerce band power need to learn to stop blocking us and our connection to each other and our planet, and depend on those first, rather than constant panic at serving a system that has no real place nor value for us. Parihaka is a light to the world in this respect. And the world needs to learn from Maori wisdom. It'll help the world remember each of their own more local indigenous ways in more practical, less wooley hippie ways. The more industry is automated, then the more people need other things to do rather than being ghettoised onto whatever indigenous reservations or concentration camps are disguised as within your own cultures. In Scotland we call those "council estates", or "housing schemes". Bleak desserts. So much land is not being used, or used well. The beaches and waters need us. The fields and bush need us. The old folk need us. There's so much to do. Parihaka has more to teach us about the future, and has more new things to bring us, than it does from its history so far. It's important to the world.

What a beautiful human being. And a really generous, graceful talk.

Crazy to think people from Parihaka could still be alive in the 20th century bro. So cool to see these memories still alive
