They are tastefully done, the likenesses are good, and visitors hundreds of years from now can have no doubt about who they are or what they looked like during their reign. The Tudor dynasty did not last long. It died when Queen Elizabeth I died in 1603. The Stuart's took over but they too also had problems with heirs for succession despite Queen Anne having 17 pregnancies and no living children to succeed. Then her sister Mary took the Throne together with her Dutch husband William of Orange. They too were childless and so ended the Stuart's. What to do now? Look for the nearest blood relative. The Elector of Hanover William was second cousin of Queen Anne and the one in invited to take the throne of Great Britain and Ireland. So began the Hanoverian dynasty. During the first World war King George V wanted to distance the royal family from its German roots and changed the name to Windsor.

This is a very interesting video. I find it befitting that Henry 8th is STILL forgotten under the floor....none of his children had his ostentatious memorial created per his Will. 😆 He so deserves this. His prized son didn't do it, and his daughters probably would've if he hadn't treated them so 💩 horribly. Who are those 2 boys under the stairwell!? 👀 Guess we'll never know!

I would love to see a video about princess Charlotte. There's so much about her that we barely know and it's sad that she never got to see her mother when she got pregnant. I wonder if she was screaming for her mother when she was going through the grueling labor. I can't even imagine the terrible pain she went through only to lose this child that she'd so desperately wanted. And on top of that, she ended up bleeding out. I thought it was sweet that her husband, after he remarried, named one of his daughters after her.

So, I'm fairly certain I have ancestors/relatives buried in St. George's cathedral. My great aunt has been working on the family genealogy for over 30 years, and I remember her telling my earlier this year that he was someone who worked (maybe took care of?) the church, and lived there with his wife and child. They were found buried near Henry VI, I believe, during a renovation in the 19th century. I'll have to ask her about it again, she has all these documents.

Add another lie to Shakespeare's account. Richard III did not kill Henry VI - that was done at the Tower of London on the order of his brother Edward IV after the Yorkist victory at Tewkesbury and was the natural follow-on from the death of Henry's son, also Edward, in that battle.

I still find it funny imagining them in Georgian styles as they stare at E in her 2 piece get-ups...

Jane Seymour wasn't actually the only one of the wives of Henry VIII to give him a son. Catherine of Aragon actually gave birth to a living son, Henry, Duke of Cornwall who sadly died at 52 days old. Although he died as a baby, he was still a son borne by one of his wives.

I wonder if anybody else will ever be named Duke of Windsor? It might be too tainted, even though it's the family name. Some people speculated Charles wouldn't use that name again after Charles I&II, but he stayed with it as king.
@cakt19912 жыл бұрын
There’s no precedent for it, as it wasn’t a “proper” royal dukedom, like York, Cambridge, Sussex, etc. It was created *for* the former Edward VIII and Wallis. Technically, it could be bestowed again, but given how much the family have tried to distance themselves from the scandal around his abdication? It’s *very* unlikely.
@C.V.202 жыл бұрын
I don’t think anyone in the royal family will ever use the Duke of Windsor title again since Edward was the first and last holder to be call Duke of Windsor.
@redmi98342 жыл бұрын
Charles the first is of unhappy memory and Charles II was a pleasure loving libertine. Neither were role models to be copied.
@nihilisticbarbie2 жыл бұрын
No, the title is extinct. George only created it for Edward after he abdicated, it was the first thing he did as king and paid Edward a salary until he died. He also had to purchase Balmoral and another estate from Edward, as they were personal property and didn't come with the crown

Watching the old film footage of Elizabeth II’s coronation at Westminster Abbey back in 1953, and then watching her final return to that very same spot in 2022, somehow symbolises the journey of life itself. Our late Queen was surrounded by the trappings of her destiny, but within herself she was a simple and virtuous person who recognised her role as one of service and duty, that was the oath she took in 1953 and she remained true to it for 70 years. Watching the Crown, Orb and Sceptre being removed from the coffin was a sobering reminder that whatever station we may hold in life, in the eyes of God we are all equal, and nobody was more aware of that than the late Queen herself; is as equals that we depart this life and go before Him to face our final judgement.

I am extremely curious about the two coffins found in Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville's tomb. I read an article they were not the coffins of their children George and Mary, as their coffins were found in another part of the chapel. So who is those two coffins? Or were they just memorials to the princes since they were not able to locate the boys' remains in their lifetime?

No one is allowed to enter the vault except for the royal family. There is a locked iron gate guarding it. It would be improper for tourists to enter it. You can see the vault through the iron gate. You can enter the church but not the vault. It is a private family resting place.
