I listened to a podcast about this. Apparently a lot of royals put the status of the family or monarch they were marrying into above their genetic disorders & ran the risk. They would rather have the prestige & disorder than no prestige & no disorder. Also, at the time, they didn’t know as much compared to what we know today with all these genetic diseases.

3:29 That bit of information has bothered me ever since I read about it some years ago. Alfonso XIII absolutely knew that hemophilia existed in the decedents of Queen Victoria and was repeatedly warned not to court Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg. But he chose to do so anyway because he was apparently infatuated with her and eventually married her. Then he had the gall to resent her when their son inherited the illness, an illness she had no control over, an illness he knew she could pass on to male offspring. 😑

Maria Cristina of Habsburg was the great-great-granddaughter of Charles III of Spain, and King Victoria and Queen Albert were descendants of the Catholic Monarchs, who are the main line of union of most of the current royal families (the Habsburg branches are Spanish, both the one reigning in Spain and the one reigning in "Austria-Germany", and the Bourbons, both Spanish, French and Italian, were also descendants of Spanish princesses, therefore of Isabel and Fernando).

How about a video of how many Saints are ancestors of Royalities? I stumbled over that topic when I was bored and traced back every royal house to a Hesse ancestor, as they are all descendants of St. Elisabeth of Thuringia. But I am sure there will be more Saints to be discovered.

I didn't know the Lichtenstein monarch is the wealthiest monarch. Who knew the tiny quiet little country would contain the richest monarch.

I love getting to hear more about Queen Mary. Do you thing you could do a video about her children? I feel I know nothing about Mary Henry George and John. Love your videos so much.
