Setting a good example. I'm 71 and after watching you I've decided to learn to use my tool. Quite a few in the bin over the years,

I'd stick with doing it by hand! You know what the say 'if it ain't broken don't fix it!' I'm always faffing around trying to find the tool on my desk 🤣. Great tutorial and pattern. Thanks

Nice tie Lindsay, I have to admit to a wee chuckle at your whip finish tool allergy. I'll be putting a few of them together for a few casts when I FINALLY get back to Scotland for a bit of fluff chucking. Keep em coming!!!

Hi Lindsay, I hope you are recovering from the BFFI and the dreaded bug! When I taught some fly-tying years ago I got the learners to simply put a blank hook in the vice and tie whip finish after whip finish on the same hook so they ended up with a shank with dozens or whips. Don't try it out on a fly … you will get a wee bit grumpy and another tool will hit the bottom of the bucket!! Atb Jim

Cheers Mark, I have done them in #10 and #12s.

Great stuff, I will be giving this 1 a go. Ps. It seems you are focusing on the tool to much and not the triangle overlapping the fly end. The problem I have is after recently downsizing to the Davy McPhee 1 is I'm holding the spool end to tight this snapping the thread.

Funny enough it's the half hitch tool I can't use. I end up just putting two loops round the dam fly not a knot! Nice tie.

Cheers Len, I think I might just be to long in the tooth to learn a new way of doing things.....lol
