Lindsey Vonn is one of the greatest athletes of all time. The way she trained to recover from injuries that would end the careers of mere mortals is unreal. She is underrated because Alpine Skiing is not a media darling sport in the US. She is a once in a lifetime athlete. It's unfortunate more people have never seen her compete.

This is fun! She's a really good egg--quick, engaging, honest; rolls with it. And I think Patrick does a fine job. He's somewhat salacious but that's expected on a sports interview show when a woman's the guest. He asks about injuries and we learn odds are excellent she'll have both replaced before she's forty. What about fear? "I have none." Yep, that's a prerequisite for downhill and super G. Easier said than done, and within this show's context it's hard to imagine the endless hours a world-class athlete trains, and the willpower necessary to recover from injury. Vonn's endured more physical pain than anyone who's seen this video. (At least I hope so.) This is a breezy half-hour interlude during what I imagine was a media tour. She's totally cool, IMO. Honest, savvy, smart--and a fucking amazing skier. It didn't come easy.

I don't know much about skiing but I consider myself a sports historian so I try to appreciate athletes so I do research on alpine skiing. To me. Anja Paerson of Sweden is a more accomplished skiier than Lindsey..I'm not say better because I can't judge. Americans should learn to appreciate other countries athletes. Paerson has a combined 19 World and Olympic medals to Lindsey's 10. Always thought World and Olympics is where it's at; Vonn does have more World Cup wins but Paerson is up there top five. I give Paerson the edge. Plus Paerson makes Lindsey look like a twig. To me Paerson is one of the most unrecognized big time athlete.
