There is a lot more science that goes into my training then people realize. The VO2 Max test is always one of the hardest physical tests of the year for me, so I wanted to explain how it works. Love, Lindsey

I'd like to see a segment on Heart Rate Variability as it relates to recovery and readiness to train.

Adaptation has to be my favorite too. I hear this a lot in using TrainerRoad.

Really enjoyable content! Thanks! Do you look at HRV (heart rate variability) or other variables such at those defined by Training Peaks to determine how hard to train and/or when to rest?
@LOLLYP485 жыл бұрын
Working in Training Peaks - it mostly useful for endurance athletes, but it's obvious good software

Very interesting you bring up HRV. Its a fascinating biometric to measure only because we know very little about it so far. I think in the next few years, HRV training is going to explode but right now we are still trying to figure out how to actually measure HRV. What is speculated so far is HRV should be recorded when still, upright and around the same time of day over a minimum of a few days to establish baseline. There has been very little research on nocturnal HRV readings so fitness trackers that advertise that they do might not be accurately representing their product.

I have a question. Do you burn fat at lower velocity workouts because you are consistently pacing yourself like you are on the bike because fat takes a longer time to burn. It's not about just sprinting like a drag race. Therefore when you use up carbs and sugar, it only lasts so long and makes your energy crash because you use a big burst of energy to burn carbs and sugar because they give you a burst of energy? Which means if you don't have a balanced amount of fat and protein along with the carbs and sugar, your endurance for exercise won't be very effective?

Katie, For most athletes the time of the exercise, their event, is to short to worry about burning the body's stored fat or glycogen. They will simply be burning the glycogen. For long distance athletes training the body to burn fat as a fuel could be what separates winners from those who "hit the wall trying". Believe it or not this is a relatively new field of study. Dr. Maffetone's MAF training would be a good source if you are interested in this. One needs to train for his/her's event so do not get caught up in a lot of sideline training plans. Use what works best for you!

@@ronbell7920 I was just curious as to how it worked. I am by no means elite athlete. I'm going to leave it to Lindsey.

Why do you ride a stationary bicycle, versus an elliptical or treadmill?
@DoctorYogendra5 жыл бұрын
There is no difference between a VO2 Max test done on a bicycle versus treadmill. I am assuming Lindsay chose the bicycle for comfort. Treadmills can strain some people's hips and knees when running at high levels.
