Listen to the report again. They tested many different choclets. Lindt only had two products that did not fit into the standard regulations. They did not say anything how bad - maybe worse - the other choclat products from other companies were. It's all about the framing. And Firstpost knows how to make (especially) Western and Chinese products look bad.

It isn't that the processors are adding it to the chocolate. The cocoa bean itself carries the lead and cadmium that the plant picks up from the soil. Coffee does it too.

Then, if you have really money and want to taste very excellent chocolate, you have to go the italians and french chocolate makers. DOMORI. MICHEL CLUIZEL. PRALUS. Be aware, that they cost much more than Lindt, but they make their chocolate from PLANTAGE to bar, that means, most of them, own their chocolate plantages in the jungle, lol, and have complete control over them. ZOTTER is at least bean to bar, that means he controls everything from the delivered cocoa beans to the final bar. Lindt in comparison is shit, because they get pre-processed cocoa material from others, that are cheap, and process it further.

Hey fellow Scot! had blood tests for lead and cadmium as I was eating a lot of their 85% dark for a good number of months to put on weight after being unwell. Luckily my blood tests were fine but that’s only half the story. Just means it’s not in my blood and could be in the tissue but no real way to know. I just need to keep going and hope it hasn’t done be long term damage.

Nowadays with a lot of the parent companies outsourcing production one can never be sure of the quality control . That's why imported chocolates from the country of origin always taste better but they are more expensive . Safety wise they are all suspect because quality control is not as stringent as before , giving way to optimizing profits .

you are lucky ,you fear to eat chocolates, but i too diabetic, from symptoms i can say, i pee every 15 min smelly pee, itchy are everyday ,wound is taking long time to heal, also ive pcod with excessive androgens. so i just dont go to doctor only to avoid listening sad news about my diagnosis. All the factories abroad have products unknown in Switzerland, specially designed for the foreigner market, and have suffered optimisation, Lind made outside of Switzerland is not the same stuff. @@VictorMaxol yeah, my wife planned to use those dark chocolates I bought for baking. I bought the premium ones coz I thought they were the best. Well obviously, I was wrong. 😅 She has to settle for some local cocoa bars instead. I'm not too sure about the flavor though.

Consumer reports tested dark chocolate bars. Ghirardelli’s is good and some of the high end bars. Baker’s was not in the report. Wish the company would give us their heavy metal content themselves.

Why focus only on Lindt? Why not conduct independent research to check the levels of heavy metals in popular budget-friendly dark chocolates like Bournville and Amul? These are widely consumed by a substantial population in India, and if the heavy metal levels are significantly high, it could pose a serious health risk.

Tldr: Lindt chocolates were found to contain high levels of lead and cadmium (toxic metals). Lindt got sued for marketing excellence and superior ingredients but had harmful toxic metals in it's products, but Lindt lawyers claimed that their excellence and superior ingredients claims were nothing but marketing tactics and are not true nor legally applicable so they can't be sued on this behalf 😂

Lindtt are more concerned with puffery and appearing to be a luxury brand rather than testing the safety of their products. 🤑 Ive not heard anything about their products in the UK but I've always bought their dark chocolate thinking I'm buying a high end, "healthy" product. I was probably poisoned and unaware.

Lindt is over-conched. That is, it is a collection of not necessarily premium cocoa mixed to the Nth degree to make it as smooth as possible. So, you get extremely smooth, perfectly tempered chocolate but bland, uninteresting chocolate. That is the biggest problem with over-conching - bland chocolate. Green & Black are, for me, a step in the right direction - better flavour without the fixation on being super smooth, thin and snappy.

I used to eat these Lindt Dark Chocolate bars every once in a while but I ended up getting sick so I stopped eating them. I only stick with Cadbury Milk Chocolate now. I hope I wasn't being poisoned and with Christmas just around the corner their sales are going to skyrocket at least here in Canada. Everyone buys them as Christmas presents.

They tested many different choclate brands and only two of Lindt's variety of products was tested to not hold up to the regulations. They didn't say anything about the other products, not saying if they were tested better or worse. They didn't say how much the tested products from Lindt were over the established health guidelines/ regulations. If Lindt hasn't been sued for this, then it had little to nothing to do with the original topic of the report from Firstpost. Firstpost is just bad talking Western (and Chinese) products as usual. Don't be a sheep.

In the 80's the only Cadbury - one could get - was from a secret source - a normal chemist - who hid this treat - in a disguised fridge and under a hefty price tag and miniature segment Gobbling was mandatory - otherwise it would melt in minutes. Also it tasted - grand.

I stopped buying Lindt 20 years ago, originally because of barley in their ingredients. Never fell for the marketing- far superior and more healthy chocolate options.
