Here is another installment in my series on creating great tones with the Line 6 Helix. This time I take a look at the different parameters common to most reverbs and how we can use them to dial in a great reverb sound. Thanks so much for watching and please subscribe to my KZbin channel if you are so inclined...

I appreciate how you thoroughly explain the finer details of dialing in various aspects of guitar tones. I'm convinced that much of what makes a tone great is the CAREFUL application of delay reverb and other effects.

Thank you for the kind words :-) I do agree with your comments on the application of verbs and delays..thanks for the comment!

Since watching your sessions I really have improved my knowledge of the how effects affect sound. I particularly enjoyed this session - I would never have thought reverb could have cleared up and tightened so much what I thought was a bit of a mushy sound. It really pulled it out of the bag. Thank you very much for what is becoming an education for me.

Awesome video, Jason. And the bonus was your playing! Those cleanish generously reverb-laden Andy Timmons-ish licks were awesome! Hoping to hear some of that stuff in the album! Waiting patiently for that :)

Thank you so so much +Newcomer :-) The kind words truly mean a lot! The new album is actually coming along really nicely, done mixing most of it and just a few things to take care of on a couple tracks....light at the end of the tunnel :-) Keep you posted!

Great videos Jason, working my way through them all. 🤘 Could you do a video on different approaches to boosting solos in patches?

Hi Jason, firstly thank you so much for this video, its really interesting learning about each reverb in great detail. I'm actually having a problem which I can't seem to resolve so i'm praying you can help me haha. Basically I am using the 63'Spring reverb for my set up and with my standard clean guitar sound it suits it and is the right amount of reverb I'd hope for. But when I turn on any overdrive or distortion the reverb almost seems to DOUBLE in sound, spoiling the sound of the distortion etc. And the problem is during a gig I don't have time to bend down and play around with the reverb so that it sounds ok with the distortion on, and like I mentioned when i turn the overdrive/distortion OFF the reverb sounds nice again with the clean sound. Is there any way to resolve this issue? I hope I've managed to explain it enough for you to understand the problem I'm having! Thanks in advance, Paul

Hey Paul, do you have your reverb before or after your overdrive/distortion? If you have it before you may want to try moving it after the reverb. You could also try using snapshots to change reverb parameters when switching to distorted tones. Hope that helps somewhat :-)

Jason - LOVE the videos, they are extremely helpful. Wondering about your thoughts on a good reverb and setting/parameters for a live situation in a club or bar - classic rock-style music. I assume not all of those reverbs would be suitable, but maybe one or two works best? Thank You.

Thank you so much and so glad you enjoy the videos :-) I guess all I can say beyond what was mentioned in the video, is less is more as far as reverb goes when playing live. You want to be careful to not wash your sound out and not allow it to cut through the mix. So I would say the "Mix" control would be crucial to allow your direct tone to cut more. Hope that helps!

Another great video Jason. I keep admiring your Godin guitars, they look stunning. Are you sponsored by Godin to play them or are they just your prefered make or possibly both? Which is you favourite? The Summit with the humbuckers looks great.

Thank you so so much Andrew :-) I do have an endorsement with Godin but truly love the instruments. I don't really have a favorite per se, but I do really enjoy playing the Summit series a lot!

Great stuff as usual, Jason! Thank you! I'm going to play my first gig with the helix in a few weeks, and I'm REALLY looking forward to it - What are your thoughts on running mono vs stereo (to FOH)?
@JasonSadites
@JasonSadites 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much and glad you enjoyed it :-) Good luck with your first gig with the Helix. As far as Mono vs Stereo to FOH, it really depends on whether the FOH is running a mono or stereo mix and whether you have set up your patch to be truly stereo or benefiting from stereo. Tough to say without knowing the specifics of the situation. Hope that helps a little :-)

Hi master Jason, one question what is the purpose to place two (2) gain mono effect after one cab? How can I use gain block more efficient?

great video, too bad most of the reverbs are in stereo, so they will sound like crap in mono????
@JasonSadites
@JasonSadites 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jack :-) If you simply put a mono block of some sort after them, they sum to mono. I have never really found it to be a problem...
