The level of detail your tutorials go into is unparalleled, Jason. Superb content.

It really is. This channel was what pushed me to go with the helix. I had a vox tonelab se before, great unit but the helix is on another statosphere.

AMAZING Tutorial Jason. Killer song. really shows you just how much goes into a song and production. The bass sounds a lot like Geddy for sure. The backwards guitar buildup before the drums take off reminds me a LOT of the biginning of Cygnus X-1 :) And the trememlo guitar sounds a LOT like Alex Lifeson's style. Great job. keep it up! You are the ULTIMEATE professional and studio engineer and consumate perfectionist and it shows!

@budgetguitarist Using a different guitar to mix your L/R pans can make a massive difference to how mushy it sounds - I love starting with a humbucker PRS and then layer that with a Fender Strat or Tele to combine a thinner tone with the fatter PRS version. Even recording 4 or 5 takes with different pickups selected - warmer neck versus heavy bridge pups can work well together if you pan them not all the way L and R

Amazing as always Jason!!! I have a question , it looks like your guitars are tracked in stereo? Is that correct or am I seeing things

I always layer guitars, but I think the hard part is deciding when to stop! At some point it can get mushy. This track sounds very good, by the way.

I feel that... You can always cut tracks,or even just put them very low in the mix, after the fact if things get too busy or "mushy"...

Side note, some of the guitar effects remind me of early Korn a bit. I dig it... They're not my favorite band ever(they were when I was about 15) but they do exceptional studio work and their live sound is near perfection

Great stuff as always! Seriously inspired, the tremolo thing actually gave me a cool idea, to intentionally use tremolo (or any time based effects) to create basically the illusion of polyrhythms. Example: 4\4 groove, set the tremolo (or delay etc...) to something like 5\8. Idk, just a thought I had. If I may, I'd offer one suggestion for your videos in general and that would be timestamps in the description... Cheers, do whatever you want of course, I'll still watch most if not all of your videos.

Yeah the polyrhythm thing with the trem would be a potentially very cool idea! I have done the timestamps in a few vids, but it actually adds a lot of work and thought to even figure out where to put them in some of these :-)

Great ideas. I like it a lot. I could listen to Marco play all day. He’s my favorite drummer. I think DT made a huge mistake not getting him.

we'll he is an amazing player but I think he doesnt have the "look" for DT. We all miss Mike Portnoy but Mike Mangini is a beast. DT is my fave band (who was inspired by Rush, the band that started it all for me music wise).
