Always love the playing paul, and seriously considering this product after my dt25 has had technical issues for the 2nd time this year. Had a question though would be nice if you could answer this. Can i connect this with a laptop/pc, and listen to what i play without much input lag? or the other way around, wanting to play along with songs, send the audio to the helix lt, and hear it through the headphone output?
@paulhindmarshmusic7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Connect it with USB and it will become your sound card. Or just use audio cables. Lots of ways to do it.

I'm honestly tempted to sell my entire pedalboard for a Helix LT. I only have a Pedaltrain Jr sized board, although it's mostly stocked with boutiquey-range pedals. I could feasibly sell it all and it would easily cover the entire cost of the LT. The only thing that's putting me off is the hassle of having to sell everything. What an amazing piece of kit the LT is. My obsession with pedals is honestly detrimental to my development as a better guitar player. I saw a comment elsewhere that captured it perfectly, to paraphrase: "I'm getting the focus on my hands and off my feet." I should just get the LT and be done with the endless tone chasing.
@savanaviolenta7 жыл бұрын
And by doing that it will be the biggest downgrade you will experience with your gear.Youve already come to make your own unique sounding boutique pedals ,you've reached the level where you've cerastes your tone and now you're gonna go and sell all these lovely pedals only to get a digital emulation if the same pedals just for the convenience of everything under one hood,compromising the most important TONE???I wouldn't do that.If you dont want a signature unique tone go grab the Helix LT ,but I think soon you will regret it,maybe not.My two cents.
@carpenoctem7265 жыл бұрын
@@savanaviolenta Most people can't tell the difference anymore. I'd be willing to bet you couldn't either. Its been proven time and again with a Helix or Kemper or AxeFx. Blind tests where players always think the the digital is the real thing.
@ghost79ish5 жыл бұрын
I would recommend holding onto the real gems in your pedal board. I've always been into multieffects units and amp modeling... It works great for me but it's definitely not for everyone. Not to mention you can get the best of both worlds if you're able to hold onto your tube amp and pedals. There are some truly amazing things you can do if you combine the two approaches.
@factsmatter39414 жыл бұрын
People rely too much on their massive pedal boards. When practice and talent comes secondary, yeah, you’re probably over-reliant on the pedals. Josh from the chili peppers is a good example... it’s just too damn much in fact, I’d argue that the tone you lose in overall line length, almost makes it not worth it... depending on how many you’re talking about. There’s just something cringey about seeing a guitarist who’s mediocre with almost 10k worth of shit... seemingly tripping over hisself to get 10 different variations of that ‘slightly dirty’ tone of which no one else can tell a difference anyway. You’re on the right track imo.. get back to basics.
@joseceraia4 жыл бұрын
@@savanaviolenta One big problem, if Helix fails, everything fails. With an amp and pedalboard, the amp can fail, but having a spare one in the car will save you on a gig for example. Iow: Keeping your amp and pedalboard is always the safest solution and the Helix as an extra.

I had chosen the Helix route a year ago and haven't looked back. Yes, the Kemper and the Axe-Fx II are phenomenal choices, nothing bad with either of those options. I chose the Helix and even still today I am finding little things you can do and it's just a pleasure to sit with your guitar and tone chase. I also went with the Blug Amp One amplifier that sits on the board with the Helix. It has a foot control board for it as well, and it is on the board as well. Then I run it into an EVH 2x12 cab. That is it. And the tonal options between the Helix, the Blug and it's own controller is limitless. And I can still use individual pedals if I like, I just run them through the Blug effects loop, so your favorite pedals can be incorporated if you choose. But once you discover all the flavors in the Helix, the stompboxes don't get used too often.

After wanting to sell my amp (because I have Pod HD500) I went back to the amp. When I played the amp to check if it works - I discovered how horrible I sound :( though I am a not a good player - the Pod masked a lot of unmuted stuff, because once I played same thing on the amp all my mistakes were very obvious. I saw at least another person talking about how he feels a big difference between his students who practice with modeling stuff (multieffects/vsts) to those who practice on a simple amp. Try it, tell me what you think. Though a Pod/Helix is nice for practicing recording at night and like that.

The future of music is still the skill of the guitar player NOT modelers verses tube amps. Everyone should know that a real tube amp CANNOT be replaced, period! With that said I have spent the last 2 months with the LT and while its a really nice unit I found it lacking in the actual amp sims. Its great if you want to spend all your time mucking around with eq but I would rather play guitar. It didn't feel very natural under my fingers which is the most important part imo. i also owned an axfx and kemper and if I were to choose one it would be axfx which is clearly above and beyond any other. I purchased the Boss TAE and now use my awesome tube amps. As far as gigging I bring my guitar, the TAE, with foot switch and one 2 channel amp, that's it.

This is a mostly obsolete video since late 2018, when the Helix HX came out. Half the time here is spent trying to show the advantages for “amp and pedal” guys of using the LT without the amp sims or cabinet IRs (as an into-the-amp replacement for a standard pedalboard). The HX is just that: it’s the Helix effects, without the amp or speaker modeling. I’m a Fractal guy, but if I were going to start using pedals and an amp again, I’d put an HX on my board to handle all the modulation, delay and reverb; it’s a much more versatile “utility” pedal than the Harmonizer H9, which only does one effect at a time.

just got back from a big guitar store in london. Tetsed helix floor by side with the Headrush. Must say the Helixded nothing like in this video. I am now wondering whether the output was set to PA or not. I got really good tones out of the Headrush immediately but not the Helix. It sounded Teeny compared to HR. Thinking about it now it did not sound right. They had it set to a small mixer connected to a flat response speaker. Odd. Before anyone says it, yes tone is in the fingers, however I managed to get it our of the headrush. so I am confused. I also found the Headrush to be more straight forward to programme. It was indeed quicker to navigate. The helix support is far superior if the forums are to be believed. Also as I was aiming for a Helix LT, the customer support was influencing my decision as there have been issues with the expression pedal and helix has replaced every faulty unit. Decision time.....

The issue I have with this (the question I would have asked) is if you take a look at Guthrie Govan's pedal rig, it's lots of old looking beaten up pedals with knobs missing, so he must continue to use it for a reason! Maybe the Line 6 Helix is just too pure and digital sounding, like comparing MP3s to a vinyl turntable.

at about 9:15 Paul says you can run a bass, a guitar and an acoustic at the same time - how is that possible? I see only one input (even the big helix only has two (that i can see)) I'd love to get an electric with a piezo bridge pickup and mix them or switch between the two during a set, without having to bring an extra guitar ...
@AnkylosingSpondylitisMan5 жыл бұрын
Assign path 1 to guitar input, assign path 2 to effects loop return 1, then set up a gain or volume block at the start of each path. You can then use the volume blocks assigned to snapshots to either run just normal pickups, or just piezo, or another snapshot to blend the two.

Dear Andertons team - I would really like to hear a shootout between Helix and the corresponding part it tries to emulate. Maybe the most common pedals original vs. Helix modeled and maybe some typical amps ans cabinets vs. the modeled versions. I can imagine that this would be a huge pain in the butt to set it all up but I would really like toknow if the modeled sounds are a real replacement for the originals.
