I bought mine in 2001. I still use it. Every show I play people ask me how I get such a brutal metal tone out of my amp. I will always use my pod as long as it still works.

It's a powerful unit. The clean tones are great. Built like a tank; I've replaced the adapter, but the POD works as well as it did when I bought it the year of release. It's a palette of colors that will still get the job done. I've seen guys play arenas with a POD plugged into the board; the backline was a pile of empty 4x12 cabinets...the POD did the job, it was roadworthy and dependable. Mine is at least 20 years old, chipped up, bang on...and it still works!! That says a lot about the quality of the unit!

So funny!! I bought this when they first came out. I really liked it, but as time went on decided to upgrade. After many purchases through the years including a Fractal FX 3, and a Kemper Profiler which I have since sent back, I decided to pull this out again. With a little tweaking in the EQ and Cab Sim department, I can make this sound as good as any of the fore-mentioned for a fraction of cost. Grab one if you can and save a ton of money!!

Cool video man. I saw my POD 2 in the garage just the other day while looking for cables. I might dust it off and have a play. I used to spend hours with the tones it generated back in 2001.

I had one of these. Couldn't get a good metal tone out it for love nor money, so moved on to other things. Bought one recently, added a Tube Screamer to the front of the chain, and it was instantly good! Even with the built in cab. I was actually quite annoyed at how good it sounded with just that one change, and I think that many were in the same boat as me back in the day, becasue I only found about about stuff like clean boosts from the Sneap forum in the early 2010s. Why they never added a built in boost pedal is beyond me, becasue the metal tones are night and day without it (the Tap/Hold Gain boost feature doesn't do the same thing as a proper TS). I think the old POD is having a renaissance by many who misjudged it.

I ran one of these with a Tube Screamer through an old Marshall solid state head for live gigs for years, and no one knew the difference!

I bought mine in 2001. For soloing - overdrive type tone, the only one I used was the Line 6 crunch (most amp/cabinets doesn't comes close to the real thing imo).Two days ago I had a session, everybody with HP, I used 2 overdrives before the pod (with a clean amp sim) and the dynamics and sense of playing with a real amp improved a lot imo.

I recently dug out an old Pod 2.0 I bought used for very little money,and then never used, and it sounds great. The feeling when playing somehow isn't as good as on my real tube amp, but great versatility. Nice effects too.

I may be totally out of my mind, but this sounds better then any STL amp sim demo i heard from you. It just dont possess that harsh and abrasive high end that most plugins, so i can listen the sound for hours without getting ear fatigue, and honestly somehow even being digital gear it sound less digital then most software amp sims today.

@MadHatter-cu5op4 жыл бұрын
I'll probably catch flames for this, but I don't care. The POD 2.0 and the Flextone II or XL were the best sounding products Line 6 ever made for high gain. The POD XT and Flextone III improved the clean tones, but they lost the buttery, warm overdrive. I owned a full Vetta rig once, with the Vetta HD head, two 4x12 Vetta cabs, and the nicer footswitch, and even then, the Modern Hi-Gain sound wasn't the same as the POD or Flextone. They always claimed it was, but not to my ears. The Modern Hi-Gain was based on the Soldano X88R preamp, and the Modern Hi-Gain 2 was based on the Soldano SLO 100. I still have a couple of Flextone amps and a POD 2.0 for this reason.
@KenKellySWFL Жыл бұрын
Agreed… there was something the FlexTone II had that I’ve never been able to find in any other line 6 amp!
