The POD HD 500 and 500x can sound really good.It's not an AXE FX,but it sounds cool.Ever hear Chimp Spanner ? Paul uses an HD Pro.Many musicians like myself can't afford a $3000 AXe FX setup,but the POD HD series,can sound quite good at 1/6th the price.They are just tools. Which tool can you afford?Anyway I'll bet in a blindfolded test,99% of most people couldn't tell the difference between aPOD,Axe FX or a real tube amp .Besides,you can buy the exact same gear as any of your guitar heroes and your tone will still sound nothing like them.So much tone is in the hands,and the fingers on the fretboard........

hey bro i feel you pain and have another solution for you that i have discovered to get tones easily up to par as the axe fx. its called th2 by overloud, ive have tried just about every amp modeler software out there, and this takes the cake without a doubt, its only 150 bucks as far as i know

@@codiewaldvogel3046 Th3 comes free with cakewalk
@nekromachine4 жыл бұрын
@@tomasvmusic It's not as good as the full version of TH-U to me personally, although TH3 Cakewalk Edition is certainly useable for pretty much any scenario. TH-U is well worth upgrading to if you like any of the Overloud's TH series. The Waves PRS Archon from the "PRS Supermodels" trio of modelled amps is very damned good also but that depends if the Archon suits your want/needs. Then there are the now numerous Neural DSP plugins, They are brilliant. Mercuriall and STL are another two that offer so very good stuff among others in the plug-in and standalone application area, TSE's X50 v2 is very good stuff for a bargain price plus most offer some freeware too. There are more but you get the picture, Spoilt for choice nowadays in both the realms of hardware and software. Ultimately whatever you find works best for you, covers what you need and want then that is the way you should go. All the best your way and all, cheers!

That's the one thing I "hate" about the POD, I feel like so much of it gets wasted on someone like me. I love the patch switching/program-ability, but I use like 1/100th of the effects and stuff, which is why so often I've thought about going to a regular, simple, tube amp. Yet, the convenience of that patch programming and switching is pretty damn hard to let go. Sick tone in the beginning, Ola, definitely going to download that patch!

Wow. That sounded really good. Tight, responsive and articulate. Line 6 is really becoming my favorite gear. I had the M13 and loved it. I sold it and bought the new Boss GT100. I don't have any real complaints with the GT100, it is a great sounding board, but there was just something about that M13 that I really preferred. Perhaps it's just the way it functions and the ease of use. Contrary to what the Boss folks say about how easy the GT100 is to use, it's got a fairly steep learning curve.

I am reading how people are going back and forth about the HD500X sounding "weak" or solid. Some are between and can't decide; all of which I respect. But one thing for sure is this HD500X sounds amazing in this video. Someone made a comment about those capable of tweaking amps being better suited for this unit. However, isn't that the case with just about any amp? The more knowledge and ability as a player means any amp you play will sound better. No disrespect to anyone.

I agree wholeheartedly, for €500 i'd prefer to try something else. Don't get me wrong, I have Pod XT and I use it, but only as an external sound card for my laptop when i get stuck and need to record something. The sound quality of Line 6 is great, but like Alex implies, you end up using about 5-8 presets that you make and the rest goes to waste. I ended up buying an amp and manually using Delay and Reverb to sweeten the sound. For me M13 is still the king, simple and effective.

You can plug htis into a tube amp but I recommend using the loop in the back of your amp rather than the direct-in in the front. This way you will bypass the the preamp of the combo and you will maintain the character of your preset on the POD HD. Otherwise you might sound like crap.

Probably because its tweaked to sit in the mix. Add in some bass guitar and it would probably sound great. I'm sure if you took some off your favorite metal albums and could hear the guitar tracks isolated from everything else they wouldn't sound as "heavy" on their own. I know that the tone I use while jamming alone doesn't sit will with a full band because I like a bass heavy bottom end tone :-)

Hey Ola, I'm trying to decide between buying a Line 6 POD HD500x or a Line 6 x3 Live, I was just wondering if you have experience with both, and which you would recommend as being the more versatile with a variety of Metal tones, ranging from Gojira and Meshuggah heavy sounds, to stuff like Vildhjarta with more eerie effects. I've been watching videos on both models but can't quite make a decision as I don't really know what features each has to offer, and what differences they have. I noticed in most videos the x3l has a little more highs, and the hd500x has more low end cut through, but I don't know if that's just how the user is setting it up. When you use a preset (This goes for any sort of digitial modeler, axe fx, kemper, POD, GT-100, etc etc) the sound is never the same. The guitar is different, the pickups, and ultimately you're a different player. You always will have to tweak the tone. He did go direct in, the signal chain is in the description. The HD goes stragiht into Logic. I know on the GT-100 you have to set it to a setting depending what you're using, I think this has it as well.
