I was unable to get satisfactory results with the original bronze (sliding) bearings of my old Torsa lathe. Thus I decided to convert the machine to angular contact spindle bearings, namely three 71912 on the chuck side and a pair of 71911 on the back side.
The raw and unedited video shows a custom made boring bar used to bore out the seat for the 71911 (80 mm OD) bearings.
The top of the boring bar is mounted in the spindle of the vertical head of my Thiel Duplex 158, the bottom is supported by a 6911 deep groove ball bearing mounted in a temporary bearing seat.
