I am an official fan of putzmeister to someone who knows a lot about various brands of equipment and history of this industry, I say that the Thom-Katt series of putzmeister are equipment that works in any application wherever you put it, only in my country Colombia a TK 40 pumping concrete at 374 feet high 38 levels with a 5-inch line was great

@Canadian Concrete Pumper It's my life. All I do is work. When I'm not at work, I'm thinking about work, or learning new ways to accomplish jobs. I love pumping. Nothing else would give me the level of satisfaction I get from this industry. I'll have to pass on belts tho lol I need 2 sticks to feel rite 😅

Here in the video I love the application with the tk 60 hp fed in the skies by a crane placing concrete on top of that beautiful unit for operators who suddenly don't know it. It is a TK 60 hp which is a high pressure equipment different from others thom katt 131 hp Cummins QFS 3.8 engine tier final performance of 46 meters per hour over 100 bar the unit is detachable from the Izusu chassis these units are for 5 industries and 20 applications which is very common to see formwork burst. scocretal projection. compaction injection are very professional in the field of concrete pumping AJS pumping concrete

What size hose do you use there. We typically use 2” or 4”. The 4” is so damn heavy I’ve been thinking about trying a couple sections of 3.5”.
@canadianconcretepumper1979
@canadianconcretepumper1979 Жыл бұрын
We were using 3” up here (normally we 2.5” or even 2”). Yeah man, 3.5” is SOOOOO much easier to lug around in comparison to 4” line. 3.5” is our go-to for most commercial work.

What is the lowest slump that can still be pumped proficiently?
@canadianconcretepumper1979
@canadianconcretepumper1979 4 ай бұрын
Too many variables in terms of mix design to throw out blanket number, but something like shotcrete, for example, we can pump at a 2” slump without much trouble.

www.concretepumpingaccessories.com/product-page/perrin-pan They have two sizes. The smaller of the two is perfect for line-pumps and Schwing boom pumps. For boom pumps using Putzmeister style hoppers you’ll want the larger pan, or two of the smaller pans (which is what we do), as they just aren’t quite large enough to contain the concrete along with associated wash water from a full sized Putz hopper. We love these things. They weigh about 50 pounds empty and for perfectly in the bed of a standard sized pickup truck. No need to oil them either was they’re made from as “non-stick” plastic type material.

Do you need a CDL license for that little line pump? Or just regular drivers license works? And how big is that water tank?
@canadianconcretepumper1979
@canadianconcretepumper1979 Жыл бұрын
Hydraulic brakes one this little rig, no CDL required. It’s the perfect unit for training someone whom is new to pumping. The water tank came from an old ready mix truck. I’m guessing it’s got to be at least 150 gallons. It’s gets us through most days, including washing out a couple of times.

Why don’t you use Portland to prime with
@canadianconcretepumper1979
@canadianconcretepumper1979 Жыл бұрын
Cost and convenience (mostly convenience). We can prime 200’ of line mixing just 1-2 measuring cups of powdered bentonite with 5 gallons of water. Priming that same 200’ of line with Portland would require using an entire 50 lbs sack. One 50 lbs sack of bentonite we can prime 50+ times. Also, storing Portland on the rigs the sacks tend to get wet (especially in our climate) and break open or just solidify. 100% mortar mix fattened up with a good bit of Portland is my favourite primer in terms of effectiveness and has many great benefits, just with the amount of primer we use daily, powdered bentonite is far more convenient. Also, bentonite is $10 per 50 lbs sack. Cost is roughly 75 cents to $1 per prime. Just have to be absolutely diligent that bentonite does not make its way into finished areas of the pour.

No safety pin in clamp on 1st hose...... scary af imo. Tiny shortcut with massive downside potential. Other than that, cool you make videos, neat and all, just sucks that your teaching the world tricks that took some families generations to perfect helping equalize newbies much cheaper and quicker robbing hard earned knowledge that should take money or decades to accumulate simply so you can make some bucks personally...... just saying. You are good, just wish keeping it to yourself was enough. Good day.
@canadianconcretepumper1979
@canadianconcretepumper1979 Жыл бұрын
Respectfully disagree. Most everything my generation learned was pre-internet/social media and was either taught to us by “old timers” (generations previous to ourselves), or quite often learned through our own mistakes, which often also meant creating potentially dangerous situations. The mentality of tips/tricks/“secrets” (at least with regards to safety) has absolutely no place in this industry, in my opinion. If watching a KZbin video can potentially prevent someone new to the industry from harming themselves or those around them, that is 100% a good thing. With regards to whatever bucks I make from the channel (and I can assure you that with the minuscule demographic watching concrete pumping content, it ain’t much), my lifetime KZbin earnings does not even cover the cost of my two Go Pro cameras which I film with. I do this simply because I love pumping concrete concrete and the concrete pumping industry in general. You are 100% correct about the safety pin. There should be one in there, regardless of if there’s a ready mix driver standing back there at the hopper or not.

@@natohammy2374 Thank you brother. I do get were you're coming from. Back in the mid-early 2000's when several new manufacturers emerged right in our back yard and pumps became much more readily available, we had a ton of "newbs" in our region undercutting prices and just generally making a mess of things. Our post-virus reality is right now that for every one pump on the road, there's at least one more sitting parked. Anything and everything we are able to do to attract the next generation to the trade is a good thing, IMO. I'm hoping the KZbin thing can help to catch the eyes of some of these young workers and potentially gravitate them towards our industry. I do much appreciate the constructive criticism and respectful dialogue. Happy pumping 🤜🤜🤜

@Canadian Concrete Pumper I had a conversation with an old boy crane operator back in 02 that goes hand in hand with your nagging about newbs destroying the industry. I was bitching about the same thing, people pumping for 70% of our figured cost running used un-inspected equipment with nearly 0 training before operators were turned loose, wanted to expand multiple times but the market was unrealistic. The old boy said the crane industry went through the exact same thing in the 70s, used equipment gobbled up by lowballers shoving cheapness above all else, so messed up. Why take the liability with nearly no profit. I have to remind myself about covid, definitely has cleared the slate in people's state of mind giving most everything seemingly a fresh start, wouldn't doubt if it helps the pump industry massively. Kudos to you, keep on rockin and sorry if I came off wrong, trying to work on how I jabber online, obvious have some work to do still. Take care and safe pumping! 🤛🤛🤛

@@natohammy2374 As of January 1 next year, mandated certification will be going into effect for all concrete pump operators in our province. They modelled it after crane certification in that there’s a written test, experience hours, and then a practical test/assessment. So long as it’s enforced equally amongst all pumping companies and not just the mid-sized and larger outfits, it could very well help to weed out much of the riff-raff from our industry locally. Another added cost to the employer, but could pay dividends over the long haul, is my speculation. Only time will tell.
