Thanks a ton for this video, going to start by replacing my really old battery. Simplest fix first. You rock!

Let me know how it works out!

Another great video. I need to get me some motorized gates. I still use the gate opener I bought 20 years ago (the wife). Just Kidding honey.

I should also ask, if I connect power and I get a persistent “whine” or long “beeeeeeep” that won’t stop and the keypad won’t work, lights don’t come on. Do you also think that could be voltage? Does it on both keypads (old and new) I connect to the board.

Can you reenter an erased code on the ak11 keypad?
@ApacheRanch Жыл бұрын
Yes. Just re-add it.

I hope you can help? I am not able to add a new code. When I attempt to I see a yellow flashing light which the instructions say is normal as that means it is searching memory to make sure that code doesn't already exist. The problem is the light does not turn green. The green light means the new code has been entered. For some reason it's not saving the new code. If I try to enter the action code the light goes to red. Is that function of the key pad or separate control board? Incidentally, I was able to delete an existing code so the issues seems to be just with the "save" function. My master code seems to be working fine. As this is a bit of an older cobbled system that is new to me, I'm reluctant to try to erase all of the codes to start over, as I may not be able to add a code so I can at least have basic use of the gate. I'm set up for use on Relay #1 and I do have a new battery with a stable power source. Two codes that were entered a while ago still work fine but they are timed codes, and I'd like to enter a toggle open action code (10#) so I can keep the gate open for extended periods on occasion.

Subject is the keypad only beeps and won’t allow you to enter a code. You then demonstrated numerous times. Battery voltage low and replaced battery and problem solved. That’s all you have to say . I was waiting to troubleshoot a more complex issue
@ApacheRanch2 жыл бұрын
Well sorry about that. I focused on the voltage requirement because eventually I found in my situation that a damaged wire between keypad and control board was shorting when it got wet. That dropped the voltage. So testing just the battery was not enough. The voltage has to be correct or this halfway-working scenario can be hard to understand. Thanks for your comment.

The backlight on ours is no longer working, is there a way to repair that?
@ApacheRanch3 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you unlock the bottom and open up the keypad there is a simple incandescent light bulb in there. If you can’t replace it locally, contact Linear as in the past they have mailed me replacement keys and locks for free. That might apply to the bulb also.

Having an issue where it will only open now with the master code not sure what happened but also not sure what to do. Had over 30 codes in it now none of them work.
@ApacheRanch2 жыл бұрын
Perform the factory reset to zero out all the codes and then rebuild your codes. That’s what I would try first. Thanks for your comment.

i need help coding to where the gate will remain open until the code is reentered, please help?
@ApacheRanch3 жыл бұрын
You will need to do that on your gate controller. The keypad will just send commands but the gate controller manages the gate behavior.

When we input our keycode some keys won't make a sound. Is there something that I need to do?
@ApacheRanch4 жыл бұрын
Definitely could be improper voltage. Like I showed, the device will "operate" partially with lower than the needed voltage. Your lack of beep might also be a symptom of this. These devices are pretty bulletproof (and expensive) so worth checking it out!

@@ApacheRanch Could this still happen if the system isn't connected to a battery? We have it wired into our electrical system?
@ApacheRanch4 жыл бұрын
Yes very possible. The problem I had was that the four wires between the Linear and the power source were frayed underground. The plastic coating on the wire was scuffed open. When water got in there the voltage would drop and the Linear would misbehave. Because it was “half working” it took a while to figure it out.
@ApacheRanch4 жыл бұрын
You might just hook it up directly to power on a short wire and confirm the button beep works or not.
@seanreil3324 жыл бұрын
I opened the box back up and moved the wires around and even tightened the screws and the buttons started beeping again. Thank you for your help.

Keypad is only working sparatically. the green light turns red after a second or so after entering correct code. Any help?
@ApacheRanch3 жыл бұрын
Based on what I learned, here is how I would troubleshoot this. I would connect the power leads directly to a known good 12v power source (ie portable battery) on a short wire right near the keypad. So then you can confirm that the issue is not related to any loss of power on the wire to your power source. If you still have that issue going on, then perhaps you have something different failing inside the unit. I hope this helps! Good luck!
