Linear Motor Experiments - A Canal Lock

Things have been happening here, but mainly behind the scenes and not very video-able. The next layout features a long stretch of canal running along side the railway, including a working lock.

Fantastic concept. I would really like to see track for sale. I have so many ideas for a new layout at the 1/400 scale.

I did seriously consider it, but there are just too many regulatory hurdles and other headaches. Sigh.

Nice, I wouldn’t have even thought to make one for a layout. As this appears like the locks on an early-mid 18th century canal near me the locks must be manually operated; so one or two t-scale people to work the locks wouldn’t be out of order.

Thanks! And yes, attaching a few people to each one is already in the plan. I've done a fair bit of searching online, and apart from a few large-scale garden systems using real water, nobody seems to be making working models of canals. Plenty of static ones on layouts, though. Maybe I'll start a trend.

Saw some old photos of coal barges Bremer River QLD only a few suburbs from were I am now. Wonder if magna rail under a few millimetres of water will will look effective.
