The intercept or the constant is the value of y when the x is equal to 0. Simple example: Kahit hindi pa umaandar ang taxi, may 40 pesos ka nang babayaran. Then, tumataas ang babayaran habang humahaba ang biyahe. The intercept or the constant is very important to business majors who do business research. But in my field (Psych), we typically disregard the constant and focus more on the beta or the impact of the various predictors.

Only regression can specify the specific number or amount. For example, correlation will tell you that your taxi fare will increase as you travel but only regression can predict the specific amount.
