Amazing! I could follow this and suddenly my simple horse sketch was so much better than previous efforts. I think the square with those two lines helped immensely. Also, the extra lines in the head, inside the 3 circles, really helped place the eye and nostril. Thank you!

You are one of my most favourite artists. You are so sweet and extremely talented. I have been following you for many years. I can give you the credit for helping me to not only survive, I am blessed it’s two cancers, serious heart problems but you helped me fall in love with drawing, now painting. I want to thank 😂 you so much…. I have just made it to my 74 th birthday in August I still don’t draw or paint the way I would like to. However you make thing’s doable with your wonderful way of teaching… You really are the best, ever! 😅. Even with my serious health issues you and your pussy cats, the amazing furry helpers 😊 are amazing companions in my life changing struggle. Thanks to you and now a few others (no one ever to equal You, though) I am actually getting better ❤️🩹. Much love ❤️ to you and the furry team, Theresa Walton, Port Perry, Ontario, Canada…

like the simplicity of your approach. Great if you could do another drawing showing the proportions of how you divide the square - not all sections are equal - tummy is longer than end bits. Also agree with comments below that the head seemed a bit small....not a major issue but how did you decide on size of head. Still valuable lesson thank you

Very good. I understand the proportions with the basic box shape, etc. This is the side view. What about the proportions when looking from the front or hindquarters? I mean, the belly is the widest part of the horse, but how wide compared to the hindquarters or shoulders/withers?

So simple when you know how. People are put off from drawing by the difficulty of delineating an object which as you show does not have to be difficult when you know how. A s in in most artistic problems that look so daunting, any subject can be made more simple by reducing to geometric shapes and finding the correct measurements - this is especially important when drawing faces to get as near a perfect likeness as possible.
