Congolese Musicians in Kenya used to say on stage 'Maboko Maboko...' and we clapped. We assumed Maboko means Clap . We we wrong?

Lol 😂 Liboko (hand) & Maboko (hands). So correctly it's BETA MABOKO (clap your hands). But by assumption when someone on stage just says "maboko maboko" they imply you clap your hands for him/her or another performer.
