I love watching the local brothers harvesting legally! 🤙🏽 Am heading to the coast in a couple of weeks for my bday to do some jetty fishing, can’t wait! 👍🏽

Lot of future Lingcod there nice to see all of them, and some nice yellowtail rockfish too. that Cabazon was good size! Got your keeper lingcods that's what counts.🎣

Great work out there. It looked like you guys had a blast. Sounded a bit windy out there. I didn't see the olive rockfish though. 👍

It was windy for sure, but it's definitely a blast catching all those fish!

@@ThePiscatorian360 Doubt it was an olive rockfish. Their range is southern oregon to baja cali.

@ChasingGrounders_ Yeah, the sound has a variety of structures depending on what marine area you're in. There is so much to still discover out there.

Hi! I’m staying on a property on Waldron Island soon and will be doing some rock fishing. I’m wanting to get some metal jigs and jig heads. Is 3-4 ounces usually the way to go for metal jigs and jig heads with soft plastics? Thanks for your input!
@ThePiscatorian3606 ай бұрын
Well, it all depends on the depth and currents on a particular day. Kelp greenling and cabezon are the only fish you can keep right now. Typically, you will find them in shallower water. Sometimes, I will use 1 oz wilson darts for the greenling in close. I think 3 to 5 oz is good for most applications. I will sometimes use heavier heads in May to try to get down faster in current for lings. All depends on what's going on. Have fun, tight lines!
@NghiaPham-xi5so8 ай бұрын
What kind of bait or lure did you use to catch the ling cod? Thanks
@ThePiscatorian3608 ай бұрын
No bait, we used plastics on 3-4oz jigheads. 6 inch scampi, fisherman's gold grub, swimshad. Colors used peral white, rootbeer, sparkle red.

@@ThePiscatorian360 Nice, I had friends go out and caught live flounder as bait and got skunk when fishing for the Ling cods...

@NghiaPham-xi5so I had a couple of buddies that used them in the south sound and did well. Hopefully, they land on them next time!

@stephanielugo50288 ай бұрын
Do you have to use a weighted decender to put the rockfish back?
@ThePiscatorian3608 ай бұрын
You need to have one with you on the boat. You only need to use it when the fish has barotrauma. Their air bladder inflates from preassure and the fish can't swim down. You will see the fish kind of swells and the bladder looks like a Ballon coming out of their mouth. We were fishing shallow and didn't reel them in fast, so we didn't have any that suffered pressure issues. On this trip. Great question, by the way!

Quite a nice trip. Enjoyed the longer format. Launch pretty busy since it was the opener or not too bad on a weekday?
@ThePiscatorian3608 ай бұрын
Good to hear. I will mix it up and incorporate more longer videos in the future. No you know we put in at deception pass state park boat ramp and it wasn't terrible. Id say about 2/3 of the lot was full. I tried on a shrimp openera few years back and won't do that ever again. There was way to many folks.

@djmilhaus another option though a little more spendy is launch on the hoist at skyline marina. I think anacortes has one too but haven't used theirs.
