This is much better than the one with Adil Ray; why did we lose the Bingo part?!

So basically "supply teacher" is Queen's English for "substitute teacher." And this theme song is definitely a good fit for Lingo, squeezing in between both songs used on Woolery's version on my list. The intro's well done as well.

I think Martin Daniels is Paul Daniels' son and I think he was on All Star Family Fortunes with his father. Martin sometimes appeared on his Dad's Magic Show.

I didn't know there was an English version of Lingo! I knew there was an American version

@Visonu Well there was a version that was only in the Central region in 1987. This networked version only lasted 10 weeks unfortunately. Shame really, not too cerebral, and Martin Daniels, like his father, does a great job hosting.

I watch the USA one. Now on GSN Chuck Woolery.

Don't understand why Thames Television cancelled this after 2 seasons....

It actually ran for just 1 series as a networked programme as there was a series shown only in the Central region but the reason for it's axing wasn't due to low ratings it was the slot Lingo was in was occupied by The Bill & they couldn't get another time slot for Lingo.
@bentheswitchsportsfan064 жыл бұрын
@@AllenJeremy Oh, thanks for the info. This show should've went for longer if it weren't for the time slot.

It's a bummer that the UK lingo only lasted 1 season, I personally think it should have lasted longer, the Dutch version I think is still going and the US version we had, Michael Reagan, Chuck Woolery, and even Bill Engvall "Bill Engvall's version is bad"
@magicalsenshi86857 жыл бұрын
Apparently, Wikipedia (which is known to be unreliable at times) has stated that Lingo UK lasted for 2 seasons, although the first season only aired on Central (the other ITV regions never aired it). The Dutch version was cancelled in 2014 due to declining ratings, after 25 years on the air, and the French version (Motus) is still going and it's on its 28th year of broadcast.
@SamHodkin235 жыл бұрын
Was only cancelled in effect due to losing its slot, filled a slot vacated by The Bill, which from the Summer of 1988 moved to broadcasting year-round.

@@magicalsenshi8685 There was also a German version of Lingo under the title '5 Mal 5' which aired on German Television in the early 90s.

@@magicalsenshi8685 And now the French version was cancelled in 2019, after 29 years on the air, but however in that same year the Dutch version returned on SBS6 with the new host Jan Versteegh.

@DANWOODHOUSE Yes this version, but there would be a toss-up puzzle to determine who goes first and the team with the MOST LINGOS wins, solving words don't give any money. Red balls would be black
