thank you :D .. that was by design.. I needed a partner in the LA area to get on the show with -- she's never heard of the show while I was armed with my system I've worked on since I was 12 years old -- I asked her if it was cool that I went nuts on the board and she was totally cool with it.. :D

Not to downplay the magic of receiving $5000 out of thin air (the show split it for us) which I received after the episode aired (several months after taping), but, honestly, it just vaporized about as soon as I got it; mortgage + credit card payments etc. Not quite the life-changing win (which we won an additional $5000 / $2500 each during the Tournament of Champions) ; I'm more honored to have my place in Lingo history, I suppose 😄

It's interesting that you bring up the idea of a multiplier. I remember thinking when I saw the show for the very first time that they should increase your winnings based on how many Lingos you can get in the final round with all of your draws. That would clearly reward people for doing as well as you did.

i understand they used the Dutch Lingo set to tape the first season of the US Lingo -- but I've seen clips of the Dutch version, I don't know if I could handle those crazy 7 letter words.. but I did learn from watching the Dutch version that the Dutch use "ij" as a single letter :)

I think I've found where the time credit was put in; at 2:03 video time, or when the in-game clock says 0:30. The board glitches as Chuck repeats "D-U-C-K-S", it goes blank and the word is then typed.

Kudos, to you, Robert. That must have been your Day that Day on Lingo. I bet if you had a Progressive jack pot that Night of, per say, $50,000, you definately would have taken that home. The way you dominated that Bonus Round, I bet that you would have done better on Grand Slam than Amy did(Not taking anything away from Amy), but you took that Bonus Round like a Prodical Genious. Your Partnet, Heather, did not even get One Breath in throughout the Round.

C'est parce que les mots français sont plus faciles :p .. French word patterns are a lot more uniform than the complete randomness of letter combinations in English words. But, also, the one time I saw a 10-letter win on Motus (Super Partie!), the chaps won only €6000 for all that hard work -- and the bonus round lasts 5 freaking minutes long! Sooo... I'll take the $10,000 for the two minutes of work, merci ;)

Yeah I kinda agree with the fact that French words are easier. He have a lot of words with "ette" or "tion" at the end for exemple. And yes, the reward is pretty ridiculous, mainly because France 2 (this is the name of the channel) is a public channel ^^.

the sad part is, once you reach 9, you automatically win, since 12 numbers are covered. It is possible to pick 8 numbers and NOT win, although highly unlikely. However, it;s mathematically impossible to have 21 numbers covered and not have 5 in a row somewhere. Odd that they allow you to get 10 words correct and not 9. Once you get to 9 they should just have you pick the forst number and if it's the right one you get the $10,000? (i forget i havent watched the show in forever), otherwise $5000

would it be considered mathematically impossible or geometrically impossible? Also, how many configurations are there that would allow 20 balls to be on the board without getting a lingo? The only configurations that I can think of are two; One with a diagonal line from the bottom left to the top right that consists of unmarked spaces and the other is the same but it goes from the bottom right to the top left.

That's definitely it..I never noticed that, and if you look at the other words, they don't have that half-second little blank like the DUCKS does, though, I guess what always tripped me up in trying to find it is, if you look at me n' Heather, you never see any weird jump cuts, it's all so fluid -- and during the DUCKS, I kinda bend my knees a little bit and straighten up again without any editing -- so I think the board and contestants must be two separate clips.. good catch!

Welp, MrMartley, I did have 10 chances to pull a 10. But only if you get the winning ball on the first draw do they give you the $10k. It was a dopey system that relied purely on luck and didn't really reward you for solving more words - which is why I'm a little sad that later on they came out with the $100k version, to where your ability to win was directly related to how well you solved words ;)

Well, as you can see by the result of the game, I clearly know how the game works :p .. But let me explain why I called for the bonus letter here: with the pattern of D _ (I) (R) Y, in the heat of the moment, I was conditioned to then think the word started with "D R _ _ _ " but my brain couldn't match D R _ I Y, so under the pressure of the clock I unfortunately burned a bonus letter there. Didn't consider a word starting with DI--- .. so, yes, while that was somewhat of an amateur mistake, I got that out of my system early and proceeded to destroy the rest of the game like a fucking assassin, thank you. :D

But besides, do you actually think a game show would be so careless and allow contesants to be able to just look straight into the bowl? The suggestion of that is not only stupid, but also, you can clearly see that I'm looking straight at the camera when I'm drawing the ball. well, they hold the MONEY/luck record -- not the word-solving/skill record :p game shows can have many records, ask any TPiR fan :D .. And yes, I saw all of the Grand Slam.. I have been told by ER I would be considered if there ever is a next time ;) GS was looking at cash winnings when they were vetting contestants, which -- while I'm sure Ms. Kelley is a fine person -- anyone can reach their hand into a bowl and fish out a lucky number.. Hell, even I did it .. albeit one season too early :p
