This review is really helpful. I'm familiar with Yabla from the past, but it didn't really help me as I don't think my level of understanding was high enough at the time. Looks like LingoPie will be worth checking out. I'm currently learning Spanish. I just love the language. My father used to teach me simple words when I was young. I really want to learn it now to be able to communicate with others in our community. Unfortunately, I've only made real progress in the language in the past couple of years thanks to the internet and apps. I'm also trying to learn German. I'm just starting out with that one. It's a little tougher for me, but my husband speaks it and both of our heritage is from Germany, making it a definite interest for me.

As a former learner and teacher of Spanish and ESL and EFL teacher, I really find your reviews helpful as I am attempting to become fluent in Italian. After watching a bunch of your reviews, I think that Babbel and LingoPie might be the right combination for me. LingoPie facilitates what I have been doing manually on Netflix. That's great. Good luck! As a Spanish speaker, you should have a head start on Italian.

@@TestPrepInsight Yes knowing Spanish certainly helps with the comprehension, but not as much with production. I had two semesters of Italian while majoring in Spanish at the university (many years ago) but had to drop Italian because the interference was too great (mixing up "che" and "que" and mispronouncing words like "pollo"). I wasn't totally fluent at the time so that may have been the major problem.

I am currently learning Spanish and I hope to move to a Spanish speaking country so I know I will need the language. I always really love Spanish culture.

I like that yabla has content sorted by level. Not as engaging as a netflix series but useful. Yabla is too expensive though
