So many comments about your Finnish skills. As you can see, we Finns rarely see or meet people who speak Finnish yet don't live in Finland. It's always a miracle to see someone who speaks even a bit, but to see someone speak as well as you is almost unheard of, if we don't count the people living here of course.

I highly recommend learning Dutch / Old Norse + Icelandic / Norwegian which are one of the prettiest and most refined / unique / melodic / gorgeous / distinctive / poetic languages ever, as they are as pretty as English and are one of those languages that are just too pretty not to know, being the prettiest languages ever and a true work of art, and also Gothic / Danish / Faroese / Welsh / Breton / Galician / Hungarian / Gallo etc, they are all gorgeous languages with almost only pretty words, and German and Swedish and Luxembourgish and the Frisian languages and all other Germanic languages and the other 4 modern Celtic languages (Cornish / Manx / Irish / Scottish Gaelic) and Slovene and Pretarolo / Walloon / Sardinian / Esperanto / Latin / Occitan etc are also gorgeous, so they are all super fun to learn and a great option, so I highly recommend learning them all or any of them / some of them etc - I always choose languages based on their prettiness / how many pretty words they have and on how organized their aspect is, and the languages I am learning are mostly category 1 languages and category 2 languages and a few category 3 languages, so they are also easy to learn, and I have over 50 languages on my list of languages I want to learn and improve, plus I am already writer level in English and native speaker level in Spanish, having learned these two languages passively in / since childhood, which is definitely a huge advantage, and when it comes to the newer languages that I started learning on my own about one year ago, I am learning 15+ languages at the same time because it saves a lot of years and decades and also because learning multiple pretty languages at the same time makes the learning process a lot more fun, and I am advanced level in Dutch, close to advanced level in Norwegian, close to intermediate level in Norse / Icelandic / Welsh, intermediate level in German / Swedish / French / Portuguese / Italian, beginner level in Breton / Hungarian / Slovene / Danish / Faroese / Gothic, and total beginner in most other languages, and I can say that language learning is one of my favorite hobbies, and the learning process itself is very enjoyable, because seeing all the pretty words and always discovering more new pretty words (which are a true work of art) brings a lot of joy to the eye / ear, so learning so many pretty languages is also very motivating in itself!
@FrozenMermaid666 Жыл бұрын
Re difficulty level, Finnish is an easy category 2 language with a relatively simple aspect and a very easy category 1 pronunciation, tho not as easy to learn as Hungarian and Icelandic etc, and Icelandic / Norse / Gothic etc and the other ancient Germanic languages are the easiest category 2 languages in spelling with an easy category.1 pronunciation and a word memorability similar to that of the words from the prettiest and easiest category 1 languages like English / Dutch / Norwegian etc, because Norse words and Icelandic words etc are just as pretty as English / Dutch / Norwegian words, and one’s hern / mind tends to naturally learn and remember the prettier and more distinctive words faster, so technically, the prettier the language and the more pretty words it has, the easier it is to learn / memorize its words, as the prettier a word is, the less repetitions it takes - most Hungarian words are super pretty and are comparable to Germanic words’ prettiness level, same as the words from the modern Celtic languages, so Hungarian words are easier to memorize than most Finnish words, even though they are both agglutinative languages, which means that, they have a similar format or aspect, and, the prepositions are referred to as postpositions and are added to the end of the nouns and written as one word, so agglutinative languages may seem harder to a beginner that isn’t used to languages that have this type of format and grammar, but once one understands how agglutinative languages work, it’s pretty easy to use them, and I am actually learning both Hungarian and Finnish, so I am kind of used to the format as I’ve known these languages for a long time, and I understand how they work, but qua word memorability itself, most Finnish words take more repetitions (to become part of the permanent memory and automatic memory) than most Hungarian words in general because most Finnish words aren’t as pretty as most Hungarian words are, but many of them are still pretty and lots of them are neutral, so it shouldn’t be too hard to learn overall, especially when compared to the hardest languages ever such as Chinese (category 10) and Arabic (category 9) and Japanese / Thai / Vietnamese (Category 8) etc which are impossible to learn to true fluency with impossible scripts and characters and super complicated pronunciation with tones etc that only have very few pretty words and are naturally very hard to memorize, so I would say, it would be possible to get fluent in languages such as Finnish and Estonian in a few years, maybe 5 or 6 years, and in language like Hungarian in about 3 years or more, depending on one’s learning methods and on how much time one spends learning languages etc...
@FrozenMermaid666 Жыл бұрын
However, Icelandic and the other Germanic / Norse languages could be learnt to fluency in 2 or 3 years or even faster, because Germanic languages are naturally super easy to learn and the easiest languages with the most organized aspect, so most Germanic words naturally take way less repetitions than the words from most other languages, and the modern Celtic words such as Welsh / Breton words etc are also super memorable, like Germanic words, as they are quite similar, so I can automatically remember most Germanic words and most Celtic words after seeing them less then 5 or 6 times, and most Dutch / Norse / Icelandic / Norwegian / Welsh / Breton words after seeing them 2 or 3 to 5 times, as they are naturally very memorable (they naturally stand out, being super well-constructed with great letter combinations and gorgeous word endings that make the words so perfect and give them that perfect flow and harmony) and they tend to stick to the hern like glue! I have already learnt over 2.000 words in Icelandic and in Norse and over 8.500 base words in Dutch and over 5.000 words in Norwegian and over 1.000 words in Welsh and about 500 words in Breton etc without even trying too hard, and I only started learning languages on my own one year ago, and a few months ago I started focusing on Norse languages more, plus I am doing 15+ languages at the same time, so I know that these languages are very easy to learn and memorize and easy to get used to! English is the most expressive language and the easiest to use tho, as it was designed that way and also oversimplified on purpose, so it’s very important that one never try comparing one’s level in other languages to the level of fluency one has in English, because one could never express ideas in any other languages as one can in English, because English is the easiest language ever and the easiest to use and the easiest to think in and the easiest in every other way, and also because English has a lot more words and idioms / phrases / slang etc and descriptive terms than any other language, so one can express ideas in English in very detailed ways that aren’t possible in other languages, so one who learns languages should know not to compare one’s level and fluency etc in other languages to the level and fluency one has in English, as this can make one feel less motivated because one is always going to be able to express things in English very easily and with a fluency and accuracy that isn’t really possible in other languages!
@FrozenMermaid666 Жыл бұрын
Old Norse is one of the prettiest languages I’ve ever seen, it has real gorgeous words like erfiði / yfir / haf / vindr / dyn / skegg / dróttinn / veit / drengr / fjall / hǫnd / fisksins / lengr / hvassir / rauðr / hvarr / grænn / hvat / líkligr / hǫss / afi / frændi / heitir / veð / hráka / þó / kvern / mælti / hét / setja / hinn / kveða / sinn / leið / brott / knerri / við / dýr / með / heyra / eða etc, and the word endings (like nir and inn and sins etc) and the letter combinations are so pretty, just like the word endings and letter combinations in English and Dutch and Norwegian, and it’s very similar to Icelandic, words cannot express how pretty and poetic Norse / Icelandic / Germanic words are, technically, every Germanic language is a real work of art, and Norse + Icelandic are so magical and elvish, just like Dutch / English / Norwegian, real special languages, so they are super fun to learn - I can’t stop learning new pretty words in Old Norse and Icelandic (and the other pretty languages) and they are really áddìctive to look at and read and hear in lyrics etc, I’ve been listening to Skáld songs in Old Norse and Icelandic since I found the first song in Old Norse (Troll Kalla Mik) and I’ve memorized most of those lyrics!

Holy hell my mouth dropped when I heard your Finnish?! I'm a bilingual Finn (Finnish & Swedish) but also speak Japanese and I am so impressed?? Your Finnish has an insanely natural, nativelike connotation and flow. I believe the difficulty in learning Japanese and Finnish is that both languages are very culturally bound, meaning that the language rotates around the cultures heavily. Also I think for non-native speakers phonetics are not that easy, but you are doing a great job! I'm sure if you lived in Japan for a short while you'd sound native in no time. Based on your Icelandic you'd pick up any other Nordic language too! 👏👏👏

Getting the right accent to be understandable in a language takes a while. But when we speak languages, we kinda have our own accents based on our first language and mixtures of other languages. It's good to hear. I love it.

Sono un'italiana sessantenne che cerca disperatamente di mantenersi quel po' di inglese che aveva studiato fino al liceo, sparandosi a raffica film, video e canzoni in madrelingua. Mandariinikiinaakin on tullut opeteltua, tosin kielitaito ei oo kovin hyvä(pitäis varmaan etsiä tunteja tai ainakin joku opettamaan xd). Koulussa tulee opiskeltua espanjaa, ruotsia ja englantia. Have to say this is well deserved way to call yourself polyglot. Many people in their videos speak like 3 - 5 languages in ok level, but rest seem to be just basics and with bad pronunciation. I speak 5 languages including my native language Latvian. Also Finnish is one of them because ended up living in Finland. Have heard many of languages that you speak and most or should I say all sound clean with no added accent. That is amazing! Respect for learning so well also Finnish. And keep going if your brain is open for more languages. Superb.

Thank you SO much for such a superkind comment, I appreciate it a lot! This is in fact my style of learning languages: if I start, I usually intend to go as deep as possible because in a way I know it's going to be a "relationship" for life with the language I love. Cool that you speak Finnish as well!

Just discovered your channel ! Apart from your amazing skills, I noted your comment about the abiliy to read a book in each of the foreign languages that you master. That for me is the ultimate yardstick, and probably the ultimate goal : literature in the language it was written in. Apart from my native language (French) I can read in 3 (and a half…) more languages. For two other languages, I read the translation in French, but with original text on the side. I’m convinced that’s a great way to improve !

Ittekkin oon todella kiinnostunut kielistä ja nyt osaan tottakai suomea sitten osaan englantia, jonkun verran ruotsia, hieman espanjaa ja vähän ranskaa. Seuraava tavoite on oppia saksaa. You are really good in Finnish than that you have learned it by yourself! I'm also very interested about languages and now i of course speak Finnish then i am really good in English. I speak pretty much Swedish, slightly Spanish and little bit French. Next goal is German.

Ciao!

Eres genial!!!

Yes your Finnish is spot on, you have a perfect rhythm in your language. Finns tend to think that pronouncing Italian is easier for them comparing to French for an example, I just wonder how the Finnish accent sounds to Italians ;)

Google Translate says for this Japanese Passage: "Great! Your Japanese is very progressive. It is an inflection of native speaker (Japanese speaker). Intonation etc, detailed details are also sufficiently acquired. Thank you for praising the written language and the beauty of the letters. Japanese is composed of kanji, hiragana and katakana as a written language and can be said to be a very good language for visibility to grasp the context of the sentence from the features of the shape of each letter. Of course, there is a reputation for the spontaneousness of speech sound as well as spoken language. I hope that you will be encouraged more and more in Japanese as you learn various languages from now on. Thank you very much". Since we know that Google Translate is not always accurate for every language, please check with "whiteisland88" to see if this is what Hän ( suomen kieltä ) (he/she in Finnish) did mean.
