Hello Marina, Thank you for your amazing language videos on KZbin. I will share with you a personal experience of thinking in English. My native language is Dutch but when I was a little child my parents watched almost all the time to German TV programs. So I have learned the German language and nowadays for me, there is no difference between understanding German or Dutch. Years later I learned English at school. I have used English at work and I have read a lot of technical manuals in English. But still English was for me all the time a foreign language compared with German. I always thought that the reason for that was that I learned German at a very young age. Three years ago I decided to learn Russian via KZbin videos and Apps. They were all in English. In the beginning, I was automatically translating between English and Dutch, Dutch and Russian, and back. Then I realized that the reason for my different feeling between German and English came because I automatically translated English into Dutch and I didn’t do that with German. After a few weeks of studying Russian, I didn’t need Dutch anymore. Nowadays English feels for me the same as German and Dutch. I can watch and understand Dutch, English, and German programs without any problem. In comparison to the other three languages, my knowledge of Russian is still on a basic level but I have learned a lot about things that I didn’t expect before about languages in general and the Russian culture. And I am still learning Russian. Maybe my experience can help other people learn to think in English. Kind Regards and I wish you a lot of success with your company. Johan Camps

When I finished my last exam of high-school, I went to your channel to know loads of English in your channel, as I have never seen those words came up from other teachers in my class in the previous year. Now I’m on my way to be fluent in English, still have some anxiety when I start speaking English, but I also give to myself a push to drag on! The title immediately got my attention because I have recently realized that though we always talk about reading, listening, writing and speaking when learning a language, what underlies them all is thinking. Knowing a language means being able to think in that language. And that in turn means thinking according to the inner logic of that particular language (because every language has its own inner logic). So people should be taught that every language has its own specific logical structure and way of thinking, so our primary goal is to learn this structure, which can only happen by exposing ourselves to that language as much as possible (either reading or listening).

Great channel and super useful video. On my own I speak English in my KZbin channel, as well as when I'm driving, paying attention to the road, but it's not always easy and often I forget something, so I start thinking in Italian, trying to remember a word or trying to say something. Super hard for me 😅

Welcome to Miami beautiful Lingua Marina. Thank you for your kind message about how to think in English and learn English. I always love learning new English words from you Marina. Even from my childhood I had a big interest in learning English. Now I can speak well, but not fluent as a native speaker. If I stayed in US, or UK I can speak with them and improve Marina. In our country nobody is speaking English with me, except few people. I only learn it from your videos Marina. Thank you for your kindness

I'm one of your Russian subscribers from English-speaking countries. I totally can relate to what you said about small talks and how exhausting they might be! I work as a food and beverage attendant (which means I am a bartender, waiter, busser, and room service guy at once) in a five-star hotel in Auckland, New Zealand. Almost every guest wants to speak to me for a little bit, and it's so energy-draining given that I need to pretend to be happy and smile over 100 times a shift. I love speaking to my friends but I'm not good at communicating with strangers.
