It’s been my experience that a little knowledge, a bunch of common sense, some logic, a dose of good reasoning skills and a bunch of getting your hands dirty doing it yourself is the best way to learn and get things done. Also, it’s a blessing when things go wrong under good conditions so as to prepare you for when things go wrong under adverse conditions. You don’t panic and make bad decisions that get people hurt or worse. My Filipina wife’s family relies on me to fix absolutely everything lol. According to them I could rebuild a 747 in the air if need be lol 😂 My dream is for her and I to live on a boat and be free to go anywhere we want to..

Yes teal the good times are so with you now and then. You just boarded one of the most fantastic boats in the world Kaori and I love to go back to these episodes esp this one where it shows instant remodels ... and talking about models linh your num 1in my book of beautiful women. I don't think teal could have remodeled you to look any more beautiful than you are no matter how hard he tried. .. I think quite a few others would agree that teal would still be working on that project..it would be hard to beat linhs cosmetic work

It really looks great, and I am very impressed about your commitment to the boat project and the sacrifices you had to make over the years. Excellent job, guys! I am impressed about your Emma and her ability to take the changes on like she has done. It is very hard to always have to move around and friends are important for a young person to have near. Lihn , Teal is right , it wasn't that bad back in the 70's , all we had was paper charts , an RDF , a CB and a ship to shore in case of an emergency . My dad would take us from one harbour on the southern calif coast to another in dense fog where you couldn't see the bow from the stern . Never felt it was dangerous until one day a great white swam under the boat and we could see him on the port side , he was as big as our 26 ft cabin cruiser .

WOW! This was a great video to watch! Honestly, one of the most touching things I have noticed in your videos is how you interact with your daughter. I wish I had a handy dad like Teal to teach me when I was your daughter's age! I LOVE that! I also love how you two seem to fit so well together. When you are going to be in cramped quarters, it matters that you have someone you REALLY love and want to be around with you! The refit is just BEAUTIFUL! I want to do this work by myself and I have been absorbing everything I could about this process. Watching Teal do the work has been inspiring. Finding out it took so long has been.....A REAL REALITY CHECK! :-) It has made me rethink some of my initial plans. I thank you for putting your videos up and for your honesty. For those of us about to embark on the journey, it makes such a difference to learn how people like you did it and are doing it. From one sea loving woman to your sea loving family - THANK YOU!

Appreciate the discussion about waterline length as I am looking for a cat and am tempted to buy a smaller boat to save money on marina fees and make docking easier. I do hate the hobby-horsing action of smaller boats and was surprised to hear that the few extra feet of waterline make such a difference. Thanks!

I just found your Vlog. Amazing to say the least. I know you probably already do this but make sure your beautiful daughter plays an important part in the restoration project. I watch several SV channels and I have to say that the ones where things seems to go according to plan (relative) are those that incorporate (1) plans & goals; (2) meticulous work and (3) honest & open communication. You obviously meet all those criteria. As a metal & woodworker myself I am humbled by your restoration projects. Exquisite work. I look forward to putting you on my subscription list and reading and watching your progress. Thanks for sharing.

Your story is as infectious as your smiles. Your channel is in my top two, SV HappyTogether is my other. When I think of all the channels and great Vlogs out there I find myself drawn to the likes of you and Randy whose love of life and sailing is at your very core and never leaks. Oh and Delos, the Wynns, Sailing Zatara, Emerald Steel, Follow the Boat,........ needless to say, you're in good company.
