I think Link's proposal just shows how much he loves his wife. He was so overwhelmed with love for her in that moment and the excitment of, "we can be together forever," that he just impulsively did it. And he DID have a plan to begin with. So I think it's super sweet! And of course his wife tells the story like that now. By the time you've been married 5 years or less, no body cares about the cutesy aspect anymore, they want entertainment, so you have to be funny.

Paul Mabie No partner ever expects being proposed to, no matter how it's done. As for her feelings, he was probably sure to an extent that she would be receptive. He wouldn't have planned to propose at all if otherwise.

That proposal isn't so bad really. So what if he didn't have the ring? That's not the point of a marriage. My husband had the ring, but he sort of spontaneously proposed, too. He was planning to propose to me the next day when we went out to celebrate my 21st birthday. However, he said he was so excited that he couldn't wait, and he proposed to me the night before. I was wearing ripped jeans and a Pink Floyd t-shirt. :) But I really didn't care about the details of the proposal. He loved me, and we were going to get married. I was so happy!

+Ezgi Hi!!! It was much more romantic than the way my husband did it. It was cute to see Link get excited about her getting off of the plane and thinking about it. It was like he was feeling the same excitement and anxiety he felt that day. My goofball literally hollered across the house that we should probably get married. I said, "Yeah, we probably should." Then he hollered, "Well pick a day and I'll start calling people." I quickly thought about how long I would need to plan and I yelled through the hall while looking at the calendar, "How about August 6th?" We had been exclusively dating for almost 7 years at that point, so maybe that is where we lost it. We have been together a total of 18 years.

On our first date he almost choked on his food and spit it all on the table and when meeting my parents for the first time he took my coat and wanted to hang it in the hall and he accidentaly janked the coat hanger off of the wall. After that he forgot his car and took the wrong train. Still love the man and we just celebrated our 4 year anniversary!

My husband proposed to me in the barracks right after we both got off of work. My EOD formation was late getting dismissed, so he had time to buy flowers and he even got dressed in a nice pair of slacks and button down shirt. I was still in my BDUs and spent all day running around Germany in a CUCV. It was hot and miserable, but when he popped the question, everything just melted away!

My husband didn't do a formal proposal and I didn't get my ring until after we were married. Mainly because he was in the Army and we went to the courthouse because he was going to deploy soon after. We had been dating for over four years, so it was more of a logical progression (and, of course, we loved each other). This July will be our tenth anniversary, so I would just say that expensive rings and weddings don't make a great marriage. Time, love and respect do.
