Having a "behind the scenes" episode with actors staying in character... ON POST-APOCALYPTIC SEASON OF POWER RANGERS, is one of the most original and bizarre idea for an episode.

I justify most of Gem's and Gemma's weirdness probably coming from Alphabet Soup's conditioning. They were intended to be Dr K's guinea pigs for Ranger stuff, so they probably wouldn't understand to avoid dangerous situations.
@nine_tails1372 жыл бұрын
That's actually one of the things I dislike about RPM. Gem and Gemma finishing each others sentences, while giving a creepy-ass smile. Which makes their acting feel very forced and unnatural IMO.

@@dylanthebiguy Even if they are guinea pigs to Dr. K in universe, I still wish their acting was less creepy and forced. Yes I know, Power Rangers is known for cheesy acting, especially during the Mighty Morphin days, but later seasons have had much better acting than Gem and Gemma. Time Force, Dino Thunder and In Space are perfect examples of this. In those seasons, the acting felt genuine and well done.

@@ashhabimran239 Measured for overall quality, it's probably the best by a long way. The acting - not just phenomenal performances from Dr. K and good performances from all the other more serious character but also reaction shots of characters... reacting to others' dialogue arguably puts it out of the league of any other season. For people who like their Power Rangers more typically Power Rangers, I'd say Jungle Fury is a strong contender. Sure, it doesn't reach the acting or dialogue heights of RPM but it's still damn good by PR standards and both have _very_ strong theming, just with Jungle Fury's being a bit more... Power Rangers-y than RPM). I mentioned this recently in another comment but it's weird how, despite the creative tumult and Disney's record being very patchy, their last two seasons ended up being so strong (even if Jungle Fury isn't near the top of other people's lists, it still stands out as having a remarkably strong vision from the start for themes and character arcs).

@thebonfireofgainsАй бұрын
One theme I notice with RPM that gets revealed in the finale is how Venjix is becoming "more human" and its thematically shown in his desire to physically fight, likely tired of being a puppetmaster ironically not in control of his destiny But its earlier setup with the mere fact he created his generals in his image...but he lacks the self awareness (as some humans also lack) to recognize that their humanity reflects his flaws Plus I dont think Venjix is omniscient and as much as he wants to conquer the world, he doesnt really care to micromanage that much, plus he has no reason to care if one of his generals is a sexist. Venjix finds human flaws irrelevant and non existent for a machine

I’ve something of a theory on Tenaya. In the episode she’s introduced, Venjix distinctly says she’s a robot. The seventh generation to be exact. I would keep her as directly machine, but her inner software was developed by adapting human thought patterns and psychology to create an agent that could merge with society flawlessly. The best way to do this would be mingle these projects amongst human prisoners where being silent, disconnected, or randomly taken away by the robot overlords wouldn’t be questioned. Heck, make her turn good, influenced by her actual memories interacting with Dillon in the prison and forming an actual bond, and having to fight an eighth generation.

@wchan39 I remember back in summer 2011 flipping through channels while sketching with my dogs when I came across PR Samurai, thought to myself "Wait, wasn't Power Rangers canceled with RPM? Heh, let's check this out!" At first I was intrigued mainly due to the fact they brought back the Go Go Power Rangers theme song (Which honestly I'm a sucka for) then the episode started, it was the episode that introduced the Gold Ranger and well after just one line delivery I said to myself "Okay what else is on? Oooooo Scooby Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf! My fav!" Yeah wasn't a fan of Samurai
@js1031 Жыл бұрын
@@Andy_Draws0209 In their defense, Samurai had next to no time to be adapted. The fact that the story made ANY sense (even if they went all ctrl+c, ctrl+v with Shinkenger) is a minor miracle. Then they took almost a year off, then Dino Charge was actually decent.
@Pineappolis7 ай бұрын
@@js1031 It's a fair point. You could argue RPM fought an even bigger uphill battle but its execution was lightning in a bottle. It's like Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds having time/budget constraints - to this day, no-one can really work out how Obsidian made New Vegas as good as it was and The Outer Worlds shows that. It has _so_ much promise in a lot of ways, and a lot that I really liked, myself, but you see that promise hamstrung time and again by not having a budget to match its ambition.

@Pineappolis7 ай бұрын
It's definitely a fair criticism but this is the one occasion I'm personally happy to overlook it - not because I love the season (although I do) but because I've always suspected the original showrunner was going to go in a different direction since the first concrete clues that she's human kick in shortly after he left, that obviously had to be thrown out when no-one knew what his plans were after he was fired, and Judd Lynn had a mountain to climb to and no prep time whatsoever to come up with a coherent second half of the season. Like I say, it's still a fair shout but it's at least hard to call it lazy writing or the like (not that you did, obviously, just my own thoughts) when he was experienced enough to know he would probably have to cut some corners by falling back on tried and tested stuff if he didn't want the whole thing to end up a mess. Not bad, as excuses go, if true. EDIT: Actually, I guess it's less speculative than I originally thought since, even if it _was_ Guzelian's plan, I'm pretty sure it's on the record rather than second-hand that Lynn didn't know any details so he was racing against the clock to cobble something together, either way.
