If you name your town "Abaddon" you can't be too surprised when one of the buildings turns out to be a Hellmouth.

I know it’s weird to say but I genuinely liked how the trilogy had a happy ending. With all the demon heavy films, it’s nice to see the divine actually intervene for once.

Also, I was under the impression the souls move on at the end of the third one? That Russell was telling them that they can’t go to Earth cause they died and moving onto the afterlife was their only option.

I suspect Tulley went onto Morning Mysteries for some reverse psychology. Claiming that the haunting wasn't real and doing everything he could to keep it quiet inspiring more people to go to the hotel or spread the story via word of mouth.

Fun fact; the titular Hellhouse was filmed at the real life Waldorf Hotel in Leighton Pennsylvania. Getting permission was extremely easy given it is owned by the film's set designer.

@ianbyrne4652 жыл бұрын
Regarding the “how did Mitchell get the footage” thing. The implication is that the Abbadon has some power, especially after the first film seems to kind of “reactivate” it fully. So maybe the hotel magically find a way to get the tapes out to people connected, in an attempt to lure in more victims. They did a similar concept in Grave Encounters, where the asylum makes sure the tapes survive to try and get more victims to decide to come in and end up being killed as well

Every Midnight Double Feature has been an absolute delight! While this series doesn't look like entirely my cup of tea (though I could see enjoying it with friends) it had some really cool vibes, so props to the makers. The idea of using a haunted house attraction for a genuine haunted house is pretty cool, especially for a mockumentary.

"Russel Seems to know what is going on, giving instructions for no one in the cast to be alone at any point... Paying the actors exorbitant wages and cutting ticket prices" Well now I'm suspicious of Russel. A guy who actually pays their workers and Is concerned for the safety of the staff? Pretty sure that's a myth.
@Iamafishproductions2 жыл бұрын
The ending to Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire just makes me imagine it taking a Rock N Roll Nightmare turn in the last five minutes. Once Satan appears, Russel dons a sparkly black leather codpiece and reveals he conjured the entire cast of his play as illusions of stock characters from bad found footage movies in order to draw Satan out for a shoving match.

As this is a review I don't fully think it would bother people, but just incase spoilers ahead: For the second film, if I had to guess the reason out why Tully would try to convince people that the whole thing is fake and it is bringing unwanted attention to the town, is to make other imitators think it is actually completely safe to come to the house with the added mixture of resistance incitement, (telling someone not to do something, only to make them want to do the forbidden action more.) Further I think the Ouija board giving false information was useful two fold. First it once again made the paranormal investigator think he was walking into a simpler situation than he actually was and thus better lure him in. Additionally it establishes the ghosts/cult/Tully are intelligent and capable of lying to convince people to come, something confirmed at the end of the film when it is revealed that Tully was in the interview the whole time.

I really like Hell House seriesand thanks for covering it! One of the creepier scary movies I’ve seen recently, and I think it’s mostly because of their atmosphere/world building. I thought with the Ouiji board was actually one of the demons from hell talking to Brock, thus not Tully, cult, or one of the guests. I liked some of the small details scattered in. For example, the second film if you pause on the blackboard with everyone’s room assignments, Russel already has a room assigned.

While it doesn't entice me to see these films, I do agree it's interesting and a refreshing take on the subject matter. Usually, angels and other benevolent supernatural entities engage in "teaching or reminding people of what's good in life" activities like in IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE or 'TV shows like HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN and TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL. Having one take on a heroic role is rare, and more often angels popping up in supernatural suspense films are kind of the bad guys themselves, come to slay nonbelievers or bring about the end of days. Taking up arms against "Gozar" is a welcome sight. 25:40 -- I bet Carl Denby could have used that advice for all that crap he found at Scott's Manor.

Great video :) Interesting movies. The production on all three movies was just superb! That part was really well done. Possible dumb question, but in the middle one, why did the guy at the end give Tully someone to keep the house alive? It's entirely possible I missed something, but if it was me, I'd say no and try to stop the bad guy from continuing the house thing. Again, it's possible I missed something. EDIT: Never mind. I just checked the Wikipedia page for the sequel and I get it now. I think I just misunderstood what was ACTUALLY happening in that part of the movie. My mistake. Keep up the great videos :)
