I’ll admit it though hearing that he was willing to at least talk about it a little bit is a big help. I’m one who tends to bottle everything up and refuse to talk about it. Now the next time one of my friends asks I might end up being able to do the same!

I imagine Mike has gone through and still continues to go through Hell. I've seen so many interviews of Chester and Mike by themselves or all of the band members together and you always would see this bonding between Mike and Chester but they all loved each other. They accomplished so much together and music is Mike's life. That's gotta be one hard pill to swallow to feel like you've lost so much. I'm so glad he rode it and stayed on top. He damn sure deserves to. They all do. It seems like ripping the bandaid off though with this 20th year anniversary material.

Wither Joseph let me give you a perspective that you may not understand since you seem like you've never suffered from depression. But imagine being depressed, writing a song ABOUT that depression (FYI people with major depression like Chester have a VERY hard time admitting it to others, let alone voicing it to MILLIONS of listeners), then having your album torn to shreds by critics because in Chester's eyes (and most other peoples' like myself), they didn't think it was good enough, or a quick ploy to make money. You opened your heart up and people took a shit on it...how do you think that'd make you feel? You can lie and say you would be unaffected, but I know damn well you would, because you're human. Walk a mile in someone's shoes before you judge them. Judge not, lest you be judged. I'm not one for religion, but that phrase has heft to it.
@basedalex
@basedalex 7 жыл бұрын
I like how you made assumptions after only one comment made. People were not saying it is bad because it is not like meteora/hybrid theory. People(both critics and regular fans) were saying that the album is straight bad. Why the fuck are you trying to make bad move look good? You're the one who jugdes, you just said that i never had depression, made random assumptions and telling me not to judge, sir you're just a hypocrite.

@HouseMDaddict
@HouseMDaddict 6 жыл бұрын
A person can cry for help and that cry can be heard, but it's not like you can watch a person 24/7 to make sure they don't do anything and sometimes nothing helps when a person gets too far into their head. All it takes is a split second alone for a person to take their own life and it's not a decision they take lightly. They plan it for a while, and then even with support they get to point mentally where not living seems less painful than living and so they end it. Lots of people hate the talk of suicide but it's not selfish, it's usually not because a person isn't being helped or supported, it's a mental health issue that can't be cured for some.
@littleripper312
@littleripper312 5 жыл бұрын
But is there a way to help someone? Sometimes there isn't a way to stop what's wrong with people and they die. We don't have a cure for cancers and various diseases and we can't always save people with mental illness either. We are still in the stone ages of healthcare. :(

Every lyric to this song speaks to me. I LOVE this song. It speaks to me abut my anxiety. It's a "heavy" burden. "Stacking up problems that are so unnecessary" = Making a problem when there is none. With mind racing. " I wanna let go but there is comfort in the panic". = I hate this feeling of panic but it's familiar and I believe it keeps me safe. "And I drive myself crazy thinking everything's about me" - It is about ego but in the sense that when you walk into a room you think everyone is talking about you. rumors, things they don't like about you, saying negative things. I could get into every single lyric but that would be so long. Sorry so long already I just had to get this out. This is only MY interpretation of the song of course. Every fan interprets lyrics and relates in a different way.

MonadoBoy I went to a mike shinoda concert. It was a small venue and it was one of the best concerts I’ve went to (I’ve been to Panic! At the disco, twenty one pilots, half•alive. But this was by far the best one) and he sang in the end. And said before “I want everyone to sing Chester’s part. He will always be in our hearts” and went in a huge speech about Chester and how much he loves him and started crying. He also sang heavy as a tribute to Chester. It was absolutely beautiful.

Even though I grew up with Linkin Park and listened to them on a daily basis during high school, I kind of "forgot" about the band as I grew up. I would only listen to their music when feeling nostalgic or if I felt like crap. Then I came across this video where college kids reacted to Linkin Park and their video Heavy. That's when something clicked and I really needed to listen to the new album, but for some reason I didn't. Then I heard of Chester's passing and that hit me. I instantly went to listen to One More Light and there isn't one song that I don't like. It's much more my taste now than HT/Meteora was back then, but then again... That's almost 2 decades ago for me. I don't get why people bashed their new album while it's one of their best albums. Sure, much softer than their previous ones, but still... Well... /End of rant I guess. RIP Chester!

Similar situation. But I was born later so a lot in elementary, junior high, and a little bit as a freshman. Now a sophomore in high school and when I heard of his death I went back to all their music and sang along to all of them again including Dead by Sunrise, Grey Daze, and Fort Minor. And will continue to do so in the future, I felt guilty for not caring about them as much as I did before because I thought all of them would continue to do music when they are older, like they act young and go all out. They have young but wise personalities. I should have seen them before that happened, biggest mistake ever. Just gone way too soon...

I understood every word in "Heavy" from the first time I heard it. I've fought these feelings all my life. "Comfort in the panic" was something that took me a long time to overcome. Like they said, even if something is negative, because it is familiar ,it brings some comfort when you are so lost inside your head ... Chester's taking his own life broke my heart, because I've been there too much of my adult life, but got better.

Omg. I love them. And This song is actually pretty amazing and as they say it has that familiar feeling it's just that style is unfamiliar to us and that's why many people say Linkin Park shouldn't have these types of songs. But of course as I said I like this song and I fully support them making more of these types of songs.

I know bands do this all the time but you can not replace Chester. Him and his amazing song writing cannot be compared to. I think this is the end of the band but a final tour is a must. Maybe you just have a playback for chester's parts and Mike can hype the crowd up. DO NOT insult this man for committing his act. If you have ever experienced this before you know it is very difficult and suicide is never planned. It is a split decision someone makes in a reaction to a stressed mind. I love you Chester

It's more than just a song, it's him explaining "what this means to me". It was his emotions and mind resonating through the lyrics. Mike kinda joked it off, about being esoteric, and that's fine too. I guess he wanted to keep the interview light hearted, meanwhile Chester wanted to explain in serious detail the combination of music, and personal life references. At least, that's what I took away from watching this. RIP Chester. Miss you brother.
