I never heard the song as being "life sucks"; I heard it as "this relationship sucks". It was, to me, a personal note, to a specific person. Not a general statement about life, about cosmic truths. A direct, one to one statement, to someone in particular. That this song was released at the end of my marriage, that it articulated exactly how i felt about my marriage (that nothing i did mattered, to her, or towards making the relationship work), well, that is just my bias. YMMV

Chester chose to give up instead of facing his problems proper. its sad, and it makes you feel, empty. personally I wonder what would've happened if he had the correct person besides him. my guess is that his music would've changed, as what he wrote represented himself. And what he was, was... was a person at the edge of collapsing. hearing his music I can't even imagine how hard it would've been for him. but one thing is sure, This cover would've probably helped him be with us longer
@niallg8755

@@lefterismplanas4977 you clearly don't understand depression. It's not about situation or who is around you. It's a chemical imbalance. It's awful he died, and saying he gave up is so disrespectful to his memory. RIP Chester
@lefterismplanas4977
@lefterismplanas4977 3 жыл бұрын
@@niallg8755 It is disrespectful to his memory. But I'm not just talking nonsense. Whatever the reason was for what he did, he gave up on something he decided was too much for him to overcome. It is sad and disrespectful to say. But it's the truth. I don't like it either. You've been given a life to live, and quitting from it like that instead of facing the challenges or mistakes in front of you, is not only sad, but also disrespectful for the people that loved and supported you. I don't understand depression. But if you think that just because it's a chemical reaction, that it is also unbeatable, then you're wrong. I can't talk much about the topic as I don't know it. But doing what he did is not the right thing. And if you're not condeming it, then you're excusing, allowing or accepting it for normal, or good. I am disrespectful because I don't like what he did. And I would not like others doing it. Yes it is cruel. But I prefer slapping someone and letting him cry, over doing nothing and destroying him. I'm not good at writing comments, and comments are not good for this talk. As both sides need to hear each other's voice and reasonsning to be effective. I acknowledge that I was disrespectful. I am not happy for it. But I ment and still mean it

For me especially the 'things aren't the way they were before, you wouldn't even recognise me anymore, not that you knew me back then but it all comes back to me in the end' because 16 years later I'm out of hell-I mean school, I'm kind of out of the isolation of my parents' in the middle of nowhere (meaning I moved to a town where I can catch a bus and go to see friends I made), and said friends have said I sound happier enough to be more confident in myself and life in general. Things actually got better. Even just a tiny bit, and it's amazing what that does to you. Now to hope I get rid of this lifelong disability and I think I'll be set for the rest of my life XD

It starts with one thing I don't know why It doesn't even matter how hard you try Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme To explain in due time All I know Time is a valuable thing Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings Watch it count down to the end of the day The clock ticks life away It's so unreal Didn't look out below Watch the time go right out the window Trying to hold on, but you didn't even know Wasted it all just to watch you go I kept everything inside And even though I tried, it all fell apart What it meant to me Will eventually be a memory of a time when I tried so hard And got so far But in the end It doesn't even matter I had to fall To lose it all But in the end It doesn't even matter One thing, I don't know why It doesn't even matter how hard you try Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme To remind myself of a time when I tried so hard In spite of the way you were mocking me Acting like I was part of your property Remembering all the times you fought with me I'm surprised it got so Things aren't the way they were before You wouldn't even recognize me anymore Not that you knew me back then But it all comes back to me in the end You kept everything inside And even though I tried, it all fell apart What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I tried so hard And got so far But in the end It doesn't even matter I had to fall To lose it all But in the end It doesn't even matter I've put my trust in you Pushed as far as I can go For all this There's only one thing you should know I've put my trust in you Pushed as far as I can go For all this There's only one thing you should know I tried so hard And got so far But in the end It doesn't even matter I had to fall To lose it all But in the end It doesn't even matter

Technically, a true nihilist would believe in nothing (which is kind of paradoxical, considering that the philosophy of nihilism is in and of itself a belief). In that respect, I don't think anyone is 'truly' a nihilist, even if they agree with parts of the philosophy behind it. Absurdism is a more accurate descriptor: essentially, "Accept and laugh at the meaninglessness of life. Nothing matters, so do whatever and have fun anyway". I haven't studied philosophy that deeply though; I did a poorly-written essay on the meaning of life when I was 13, and that's pretty much the extent of my knowledge on the subject, so correct me if I'm wrong.

I see this as a happier, healthier person looking back at who they were and how they used to be depressed and how they just watched the time fly by. They have grown so much since then and looking back, they don't even care that they weren't happy before, because they are happy now. And they want the person they used to be in a toxic relationship with to know that they have moved on and that they no longer need them.
