What's creepier is, fans who "carried" Chester's "Be kind" attitude but always have the time and energy to hate on Mike and Emily to a point that they degraded the band just because the band decided to move forward. Even more creepier, fans who actually hate Emily for singing old LP songs but at the same time love listening to AI Chester singing Emily's songs. The creepiest of them all are fans who want the band to change their name to something else like they've actually contributed something to the band, the entitlement really shows on their thick faces. This band is now a cover band which I don't like her screeching. That's my opinion of her covering his past band because that's what it will always be known as no matter how they try to sugar coat it it's now covering his songs as he was the lead singer singing 95% of the vocals with Mikey throwing in a few in there n some songs he owned as his I did love as Mike's songs. I now throw on my old vinyl or CDs or my old playlists of original Linkin Park and not the cover band they are now.

@@anorbertop I never complained about it because I understand not wanting to do the same thing forever, I just checked out when they went in a direction I didn't care for. Loved everything up to Minutes to Midnight, liked parts of A Thousand Suns, Living Things and Hunting Party, but I also really liked both Chester's and Mike's side projects, though I did prefer Mike's because I'm just more a Hip-Hop fan. All that said, if I were in their position I would've just changed the name altogether, LP has always felt to me like a singular entity, not just six guys in a band, as opposed to when Ben Burnley fired and replaced his bandmates and remained Breaking Benjamin because he is the only really integral part of that band.

I like Linkin Park, and I liked how the new album showcased Emily's vocals. But, there's still a part of me, who still does not accept the new Linkin Park. Chester's voice was the one who saved me from long standing depression of 5 years, as I just found the songs to be too relatable to me. Castle of Glass was the first LP song that I heard, and still is my favorite LP song till date. And there's the talk of controversies surrounding the band, how Emily is a scientologist, how Mike poorly treated Chester's mom by not telling her that the band is starting again, and also the fact that Mike blocked Jamie on all socials, whilst he only wanted tickets to a concert. Those controversies deteriorate me even more from the band. And also the fact that Emily singing old songs - it sounds so uncanny to me. Instead of going on to tour so fast, they should have released 2-3 more albums, and then started touring. These facts led me to decide to just listen to new stuff, and not watch LP perform live. I am all for new stuff, but not for new singer singing old stuff. Same goes for Queen too, the band that I dearly love too, which still is touring even after Freddie's death, and that too deteriorates me to watch Queen live. They could have taken the Dave Grohl route, and made a new band, like how he formed Foo Fighters instead of continuing as Nirvana.

I totally understand Mike Shinoda's view. As a Ghost tribute band, we sometimes have similar discussions with Ghost fans about whether it’s okay to tribute a band that is still active. In our opinion, it absolutely is, and it shouldn’t be an issue for the original band either because, as a tribute, you’re always just selling the illusion. Tribute bands play in much smaller venues, are more accessible, and perform in places even in the smallest corners, allowing fans of the original band to party to their favorite music. We provide an opportunity for fans to enjoy songs the original band might never play live again or to experience former characters and different eras on stage-something newer fans may have missed entirely. There are so many well-regarded tribute bands coexisting alongside still-active originals, like Metallica, KISS, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, and many others. Metallica even invited a German tribute band last year to perform as part of their pre-show events in Munich as a warm-up. I think that’s the kind of perspective people should take on tribute bands. Of course, bringing someone into the original band to replace such an iconic and unique character is absolutely unsettling. Btw that was nearly the kind of scenario portrayed in the movie Rockstar with Mark Wahlberg! Personally, I think Linkin Park found the perfect match with Emily Armstrong to move forward without becoming their own tribute band...i love their new era and wish them all the best

I was 14 when LINKIN PARK came out. I used to stay up late watching music videos on MTV2. (MTV had become all reality TV by then. ) The video for one step closer came on and my whole musical world changed that day. Tribute band is a common thing, there are lots of them. The point of these bands is to look as similar as possible, because usually original band is already disbanded. I have no problems with them. But telling the band to find an impersonator of original member is insane - it just feels straight up evil. Funny thing, that those are the same people who are telling that Linkin Park is erasing Chester's legacy (by actually getting a vocalist that is VERY distinct from Chester).

I've been listening the band for 20 years more or less, I remember when some guys were popping out, it was crazy to hear someone sounding and looking like Chester, the point is that having a different singer was the best choice, feeling the difference between Emily and Chester makes me feel there is someone else on the stage, otherwise it would seem just a singer cosplaying Chester. I’m not going to lie. First listen, I was like, nope. The problem was, the first thing I heard was one of their old tracks. It just didn’t feel right. I feel like with the new tracks, they’re still kind of trying to find “their” sound. There are moments where I’m like, ok. Cool. This is really good and the next moment it just feels wrong. I don't think they ruined anything, considering they're #2 here and #1 in numerous other countries, have sold out every stadium and arena, and the crowds have chanted Emily's name at every single show. I think there's just stubborn fans who either can't leave the past in the past, or just simply say, I don't like how she sings, then move on with their lives instead of flooding her and the band's socials with nasty comments trying to drag them down. Just let it go. This is who the band chose. People may peg her distortion vocals as not knowing how to sing, but the woman is talented, versatile vocally, and can sing. Otherwise, numerous professional vocal coaches who have reacted to her wouldn't have applauded her. They would have all critiqued every note. My father was a musician. I'm a musician. I trust my ears, the feeling I get when I hear her, and professionals. Not bitter fans.

I don't think we get to downplay it with the "whoever they pick was going to be controversial" take. Because it is just not another singer. It is one that brings many more controversies. One being she is a she obviously. Two being the scientology thing. Three being the courthouse thing and what that implies. Four being she is of the alphabet variety. Number one all by itself I think would have been fine for a lot more people with 2 3 and 4 did not exist. Personally, I view it like so many other singers or celebrities. I probably would never want to hang out with them or let them around my kids, but can 100% appreciate them as the artist they are. I think she does a good job with the new songs, and some of the old ones as well. The more I hear about how she was raised, the more I understand how she is what she is.
