Here was me, being dumb and forgetting this was an actual song, rather than just a 6 minute instrumental demo of one of my less favorite Linkin Park songs. I've ignored this demo for so long, because I was so sure I heard it before and didn't like it. Well, now I know. It's amazing and I won't be sleeping on it anymore.

@SelvesteSand10 жыл бұрын
Ever since I first heard I'll Be Gone, I loved that part, but it was one of those songs I liked better singing to myself than listening to, because I felt the finished version didn't live up to the potential. (Leave Out All the Rest is another one - it should have been slower and had contrast between more rock'y loud parts and more quiet parts. The chorus is so beautiful when it's a little slower and quiet.) I always thought "tell them I couldn't help myself" needed to be slow and quiet. So when I heard Primo, I was in love. And OH! Chester's voice just in the beginning (tell them I couldn't help myself - mostly on "tell") sounds so sad and broken! I get chills to my bone. It's amazing.

Though Chester sang this song, Mike and Brad also involved in writing the lyrics. What pain are they expressing? Why can't we see their pain? Why are we remembering him so much? That's not love or maturity to write "he is remembering us from the dead", "he had been crying to us since ages". He lived life to his fullest, sharing his happiness to us and taking all our sadness. Why do we always cry in the comment section? Why can't we just move on and give a chance to our lives as well? Even I love Chester, may be much more than you guys do. We don't each other. We didn't know each other. Till I cared for him a lot. Linkin Park saves us from our hardest of times. Stop writing that over and over again. Expressing ourselves in social media and KZbin isn't such a nice thing. Let's just practice beautiful things in person, like Chester always did. If you can play music, make some. Let the world listen and ease pain. Share some love with needy. Try to make your society crime free. Do something that makes you an inspiration.
@SelvesteSand3 жыл бұрын
Mike wrote almost all Linkin Park lyrics, and Mike and Brad wrote most of the music. All the members were involved in the creative process, and Chester wrote a couple songs himself (e.g. Easier to Run and The Messenger) and sometimes changed a few words here and there in the studio, but generally Mike was the songwriter. I have no idea who you're replying to or what they wrote, just wanted to clarify that. :)

Chester only wrote Heavy and Halfway Right, you know, the single that everyone made fun of before his death. Those singles you mentioned above mostly written by Mike, Brad, and whoever guest writers they invited. So, everyone feels guilty for laughing at him when he poured his heart out writing Heavy. But please stop reaching, people! OML is not Chester's suicide note. You undermine him and the band by saying that.

you're right, but they are band and work together at least Chester sing if he doesnt help them and if he cant sing them right and put his feelings on then lyrics will be useless. my only issue with Heavy is music i loved the lyrics and its like all their songs but music ruined it, i know they been switching music style a lot but it was really off, even when fans sang Heavy in nu metal or metal or even rock i loved and made lyrics more powerful, i actually started liking metal because of LP and dropped other genres so it was strange to see them go off to genre i dont like anyway i was going to drop and didn't complain much and hoped for better album or nu metal/metal version as appreciation to old fans who loved their old style like demo but instead they mocked of us and now Chester gone :(

I thought the same thing even back when you made this comment 7 years ago. Linkin Park was at their best when they were making unique music. Sadly most of their last few albums were similar structured songs without a whole lot new going on. A Thousand Suns was peak LP for me just for their pure ambition to pull of a concept album and experiment without caring about their previous image. It's sad Chester is gone and we won't be able to see them reach new heights. RIP.

This demo was made during the making of A thousand suns. Mike talked pretty openly on a stream once about this demo. He said it was one of their best demos but nobody in the band liked the tone other than himself, so it wasn't developed further. Obviously Mike liked this enough to revisit down the line. I think this also suggests that living things was made up of a lot that didn't make the cut for A thousand suns. I've assumed this for years, it was their fastest turn around between albums and stylistically similar. Some songs on living things would even fit in the narrative of a thousand suns. But this demo is something else. I feel more emotion in Chesters voice in the final version. But lyrically this is the deeper and more emotional version. If only this was the song that got final recording treatment

I never listened to this version until last Saturday at our memorial of Chester, but I love it. Though the part at 3:45 gets me really cause I always feel and hear him saying this alone and being able to help himself and therefore ending it all. Cariad1997 Cymruambyth I agree; I always took this song to be a (beautiful) suicide note. Which makes it even more tragic knowing what we know now. Not that there's anything wrong with 'I'll Be Gone,' but I've also always thought this version is far superior to 'I'll Be Gone.'

@@kalimba508 It is a suicide note, but Mike and Brad wrote the song like they did with almost all LP songs. Good writers don't necessarily need to experience what they write. They can make up fictional scenarios and put themselves in those positions in order to find the inspiration and emotions to write about new topics. Role playing is key. It just happened that Chester actually related to those lyrics even though he didn't write them.

this is the exact song my best friend sent to me before leaving me because i wasn't good enough and we didn't see eachother's hurt i had been so self absorbed and finding my own pain i didn't realize how much i caused others and this hurts every day, even if it's been a few years. i hate myself for it, and i miss him so much, but i guess i just carry on.

"Just carry on And miss me when I am gone Don't let anyone take my place" Now he is gone. Let's hope no one takes his place.

i highly doubt hes taking about the band.. much deeper then that! plus chester isnt and would never be that selfish. if LP wants to sing and be a band chester wo uld only give them his blessing. no one could ever take his place in that sence anyway.. if they fill that spot...they will be smart enough to know they cant even come close to taking chazs place....noone could.ever!!but yeah... chaz was not talking about band... as usual hes only thinking about othersnot wanting them to live in hell either
@@samanthaeiler5985 yes agree with you #RIPLINKINPARK gone but never forgotten
