If you can't find the download link in the description, here it is: www.linkingyourthinking.com/join/transform-your-year-with-the-linear-calendar? For some unknown reason KZbin is being weird with the non-English versions of the description.

I have discovered you via my interest on Obsidian, which I have been using for less than a year. I have learn a lot about linking documents and hashtags, thank you for that. In this particular video I do share your excitement with linear calendars, until a few years ago I used to buy a linear wall calendar, every year, and I still have them all. Looking at them now, just as it does to yourself, I am transported back in time with a huge level of detail and clarity. It's an amazing experience. I have watched your video about managing folders in a vault and although I understand the value of the models you have shared and in particular ACE, the one you seem to use, I too have developed my own, decades ago. My folder management is based on physics, in particular on classic physics. All my notes have the same headers which include a number of contextual details including timestamps, I want to know when, where and why I ended writing that specific note. Additional ones can be added together with a new header. So in a sense, they are all "calendar" type, all are something I put down sometime, somewhere during my lifetime. As such ALL my folders are sub-folders of a calendar folder, because time is always the first reference. Anyway, in terms of folders I divide my content in 4 folders: position, velocity, acceleration and force. Position refers to all entries which include historical info, present statuses, achievements, etc, Velocity refers to entries about ongoing projects, of any nature, any ongoing effort, Acceleration refers to any entries related to all my learning efforts, academic or otherwise, anything that adds to my current knowledge, and finally Force refers to everything that has the potential of changing my life, ideas, concepts, meditation on any subjects, and so forth. As in physics, things happening in Force can cause content to be generated under Acceleration, which can influence Velocity which ultimately will affect Position. This particular vault is alive in the sense any content can ultimately be cause and effect of any other and reflect my life's pathway. I'd love to hear your comments and ideas on this, as well as anyone else's. Thank you.

This is great - you articulated what I have been doing for years! I use a wall calendar and plot out all my big rocks for the year so I can visualize what's happening. I also remember things easily when I have a mental visualization so I almost never need to look at my calendar to know if particular dates work for a future event - it's imprinted in my brain😊

I love the idea of plugging this calendar in MIRO. I’ve been using horizontal year at a glance calendars for years, but always in paper format. I tried replicating it in Notion and Clickup, but it’s difficult to see the year at a glance in those programs without scrolling. I’ll try MIRO instead! Thank you for this video, Nick.

People ARE using the "linear" calendar, and have been for generations. They even sell them on Amazon, both in normal paper format and in dry/wet-erase format. It's simply called a HORIZONTAL calendar.
@aliharris9728

Yes! People have been using these for at least a century. Especially in Asia, both on paper (banks will give them out at the end of the year) and with large whiteboards for offices.

Recreated something similar to this in obsidian canvas after watching this, except with the dates aligned rather than the days of the week - I've a terrible habit of trying to bundle the next item in progress on all my yearly goals into the next week and then getting overwhelmed when I'm working on multiple things, I can spread them out now. Thank you for sharing

I've been using my own "one page year overview" calendars I generate in Excel and Word on both A4 and A3 sizes for years as well, inspired by such (fold out) spreads in classic binder planners. I've been wanting calendar software people to at least have separate calendar selections for Monthly views versus other views. That way I would be able to turn off all the "context" calendars (like other team or family members, other projects, recurring meetings) when zooming out to a monthly or yearly view. Also, while I'm at it, I've always wanted a slot for "week" events, just like you can have "all day" events, so you can plan out ahead without having to decide precise days.

This was really insightful. I've been really frustrated with calendars the last few years and as a result I don't use them consistently and my growth suffers. I went back to analogue this year. I work at a printing house and there's a more convenient way to fold sheets of this size, namely A3 or longer. Folding it into A4 for filing creates a special margin for inserting it into a binder, just write folding A3 to a4 or Filing fold a3 to a4

How do you use Obsidian daily as a journal/calebdar app? I know that it exists on the phone but it is slow and not that apt. Do you agree? For me it takes 2 min to just get into Obsidian on my phone because it takes time to sync. And if this is the case, looking at my computer to see my daily plans/checklist etc, it is not as easy because it is not with me wherever I go, contrary to my phone

First of all I really appreciate these videos, but I have to confess this one confused me. I watched a large part of it expecting an explanation as to what is meant by 'linear calendar' (admittedly I skipped bits). The one featured in the video doesn't differ from the standard yearly calendar that people have had on their walls at home and at work for generations. What is a 'non-linear' calendar? I know some people prefer the monthly ones where you flip the sheet over every month but even that's still linear.
