I can't imagine how nervous Emily was. Showing up to sing songs by a man who an entire generation of people grew up with is no small feat. Honor his legacy, bring us that comfort we know and love, then take us to a place we've never been. Welcome to the LP family Emily. ❤

Girl does need to clean up her chops. if the intention is to revive these songs as much as possible then The Linkin Park sound with Chester has always been super clean, even when singing with distortion Chesters growls were harmonically pleasing and healthy and he always had control. Her distortion is often overused, and she strains too much. I don't care if she "Sounds" like chester but taking some notes on how Chester carefully approached and balanced his sound and vocal workload will help her survive a tour. I also think that for some songs lowering the key back to the original will still sound amazing. Some of these transpositions felt too high for her. Im just glad the boys are back, mostly.

I am old enough to remember when AC/DC brought in Brian Johnson. He wasn't the same as Bon Scott, who seemed like an irreplaceable front man, and the initial reaction hearing the new lineup was that it was "wrong" somehow. Whereas Brian Johnson's voice sounded like a cat scratch, Bon Scott was so fluid. And right now, people are posting similar comparisons between Emily and Chester, with her scream more angry and his more soulful. I don't dispute that, but bear in mind that Brian Johnson and Bon Scott now both get equal respect for their own eras. Chester's era is over. For those who would suppress LP with Emily, I have to wonder what attracted you to LP in the first place. I could not have been more impressed with her debut. Yup, she's not the same and the band won't be, but isn't this the kind of music that a LP fan would like??? She is a powerful and amazing singer. Honestly, could you have imagined better without reviving Chester from the dead?

@@briand1322 I think it's important to acknowledge that people process grief and nostalgia differently. For many, music and the artists they admire become deeply intertwined with personal memories and emotions, and losing someone like Chester can feel like losing a piece of their own history. Whether someone knew Chester personally or not doesn’t make their feelings any less valid. It’s a testament to the impact he had on people’s lives. We all cope with loss in our own way, and it’s okay to feel deeply about something meaningful to us.

I am Adam and I will sing his songs just as well as I can because I was a huge fan of his. So please join in and sing his songs with me!" Emily is not Chester. Give her time and I think you’ll see her thrive. If Mike and the rest of the band believe in her, so do I. The Mercedes-Benz CLR GTR was a prototype race car developed by Mercedes-Benz for the FIA GT Championship in the late 1990s. The car featured a sleek and aerodynamic design with a low-slung body and aggressive styling. It was powered by a 6.9-liter V12 engine producing over 600 horsepower, allowing it to reach top speeds of over 200 mph. The CLR GTR made its racing debut in 1999 but unfortunately 19.5K gained notoriety for a series of high-profile accidents during the season. The most infamous incident occurred at the 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the car became airborne at high speed and flipped over multiple times before crashing back onto the track. The car was subsequently withdrawn from the race, and Mercedes-Benz ultimately decided to discontinue the CLR GTR project. Despite its short-lived racing career, the Mercedes-Benz CLR GTR remains a legendary and iconic car in motorsport history, known for its striking design and impressive performance capabilities.

Honestly, can’t imagine the level of nerves and pressure Emily had to be feeling. But when you really listen, she learned every strain in Chester’s voice, and I love that grit to her cleans. I think the screams are in place of a guy who literally influenced the metal genre as much as the rock. I think her harsh yells are freaking sick. It’s the emotion in the songs. That’s what we needed. We got it. She really did a great job, and this was something we’ve all wondered about for years. Chester would’ve loved this.
@derekrose3328
@derekrose3328 10 күн бұрын
Dude that’s EXACTLY what I was saying! Because the thing is, Chester largely stopped doing those strains and grit, and I really, really missed that. In that regard she brought back something that Chester had stopped, and I’ve been chomping at the bit to hear it live again. She even hit the little ones in What I’ve Done! But for more massive instances? For many years I’ve been dying to hear, “Lying From You,” at all, and I’ve been dying to hear, “Faint,” performed with grit and strain in a live setting again (Chester had switched to only doing it high pitched, and I honestly wasn’t crazy about that choice), yet Emily brought it back!! MASSIVELY brought it back‼️🙌 In a live capacity? She’s NAILING IT 🥳😝🤝 They’ve been my #1 band and role models (as business men, how they treat others, as creatives, and so on) for as long as l can remember. For over a decade I’ve been a paid member of LPU. And, this sounds mental, I know, but I’m in the top 0.1% of their listeners on Spotify.. So, that’s to say -this is coming from a MASSIVE Linkin Park fan - Emily is PERFECT for the role, and I see EXACTLY why they picked her. 🥳❤️🤝

Emily KILLED this, especially considering how many factors she was up against... - She had to cover a bunch of songs that were designed for a very specific set of vocal chords. - She had to cover them consecutively, in a live show. - I heard her voice crack a little about halfway into the show. The voice is a tricky instrument, and can't be swapped out mid-show like a guitar. I think she managed her limitations pretty gracefully. - A new Linkin Park show with a new vocalist?! That's a big deal. I can't imagine the pressure.

Emily has an amazing and powerful voice. We will always love LP. Real fans need to respect the fact that : 1. She's not trying to remplace Chester. 2. She has her own sing style, so it's normal that some songs fits her better that others. 3. This is is FIRST appearence during a live. You need to give her time to adapt. I personally think that they did an amazing work and they gave us an amazing performance. ❤LP

when Emily started singing Catalyst and her voice completely broke I was so worried that not only did she damage something but I was immediately dreading the crowd going silent or booing her. it took a moment for her to recover, but the thing I loved is how quickly the crowd picked up the song for her. and then close up of the front row, no one was angry or disapponted, all I saw were smiles cheering her on. it's a small moment but that coulda been a breaking point for anyone in her shoes. the bounce back was just amazing and the setlist was largely phenomenal from her. I also love that the crowd took to her so well that before the final song, Emily's name was being chanted. such a cool moment for her and I have no qualms with her as the new vocalist. "in the role of Chester... is each of you." a beautiful reminder that Emily is not here to replace, but honor the man himself. she did a phenomenal job.

I'm personally glad that they choose someone to continue with new music, instead of nothing. We loved and love Chester but I wish them the best as a new band ❤️ we need to support her, cause we can't be the reason of hate, just because she's not Chester. Man, I knew not everyone would be on board, but some of you guys take the hatred too far. You're never ever going to replace Chester, so they didn't try. Some people don't like AC/DC without Bon Scott, some people don't like Queen without Freddie Mercury, and some of you won't like Linkin Park without Chester. And that's okay! That's the beautiful thing about art and music is that we all respond differently to it. The albums with Chester aren't going anywhere. You will always have those to look back on and enjoy. But let Mike and the band heal and move forward, and make new music, and begin this new chapter in their lives. Chester would be proud of his brothers for picking up the pieces and starting "from zero." Much love to you all.

Don’t worry too much about it 😊 the ones who are music nuts will totally get it! You really do sound like an amazing person and a teacher who actually cares as well. 🍻cheers from BC Canada 🇨🇦 👍🏻 I actually thought it was gonna be Deryk from Sum41… That being said I do have to say that Emily did do an amazing job in an almost impossible position. She probably even pushed her voice a bit too hard here and there on certain songs , but to me that just shows she’s truly giving it everything she’s got… and that’s actually a good thing 😊 she will find the perfect balance as she gets more used to fronting this particular band… anyone who would have taken the spot will have to do exactly that very thing to pull it off no matter who they were male or female! It’s great to see this band back in action again in any way… the fans have waited a long time… and I do completely understand why Mike and the rest of the guys took the time to process it all 😢 and get past Chester’s passing away… and in many ways it’s ok that they didn’t try to just do a vocal clone of Chester as Nobody would Ever be able to replace him! Happy Mike gave Chester’s spot in the band to the fans ( such a class move 😊) Chester still means so much to everyone that loves Linkin Park even after his passing. So happy to see that the Mike keeps saying exactly what all the fans feel, as he himself obviously feels the same way. R.I.P. 🕊️ Chester… Released from the pain of this world 🌎 but Never Forgotten, You are still Loved ❤and missed by millions of fans and friends, You still live on in all of the fans through your incredible music! 🎤👑🤘🏻

@@AxiomApe Love your profile pic 😊, 🤘🏻 Buckethead Rules! He’s easily been my #1 favourite guitarist over the last 10+ years or so. ( I’ve been playing guitar for 38 years myself and own 14 of ‘em including an Ibanez SZ-720FM personally autographed by Joe Satriani and a ridiculous amount of amps and pedals 🤭 nothing quite like a good obsession 😄). I was also lucky enough to see Buckethead live as a guest member of Primus at Ozzfest- Black Sabbath reunion in 1999 ! When that dude is ripping Nobody out there is even remotely close to what he can do ( Pike 65 Hold Me Forever is still my favourite of all , Pike 66 - Leave the Light On is my second personal favourite , also really love Glassmines track 3 from Pike 296 Ghouls of the Graves. ) , he’s an absolutely insane guitar 🎸 player who’s in an entirely different universe ✨ all his own. Even his slower acoustic stuff in the Pikes ( Monument Valley and Pearsons Square, Drifting Ice or similar stuff). is absolutely incredible in its own right. I listen to the Bucketheadland Pikes for about 8 to 10 hours everyday at work… People that say he plays mechanically and without any feeling don’t have a Fk’n clue what they’re talking about! 😄… 🪣 🎸👑 I have no doubt they just slapped on Soothsayer and it wasn’t their thing so they made their call based solely on that song without giving some of his other styles a chance as he can play Anything in any style Extremely well , Oh well that’s their loss… 🤷‍♂️ They are the ones who are missing out big time ! Hope you’re having a great day Bucket bro 🤘🏻🍻Cheers from BC Canada 🇨🇦

1. To everyone saying this isn't Linkin Park. Only Linkin Park decides who Linkin Park wants to be. This is what they want to be (and I'm all for it and it's awesome). You don't get to decide. Support and cheer or shush it. 2. No one should be compared to Chester. And Emily shouldn't be compared to anyone either. They're unique and they both fit different versions/eras of Linkin Park. 3. From Hybrid Theory to One More Light, this band has gone through so many changes and growth, and the way they explored themselves has been amazing. If you can't open your mind two inches for that, YOU are losing out.

I can tell she's doing her best to perform their old songs, but the new one, that was especially made for her, sounds so much better. I look forward to this new era of Linkin Park, one my favorite bands of all time.

I feel like she'll get there in time with the old music. She drastically improved from the first half of this to the second half. Dead Sara wasn't a very big band. Imagine the nerves being in her spot AND being a female put in that spot.

She sounded good on what I've done, In the End, Faint, Numb, Bleed it out. Lost being stripped back showcased her voice well. Tracks from Hybrid Theory and Meteora she may struggle but stuff from MTM onwards she should have a better time with as Chester's style changed.

During my teenage years, the same album played on repeat, day in and day out. *Hybrid Theory* shaped my identity into adulthood. Over the past ten years, I’ve felt that all culture has just been recycled, with only bad copies and half-hearted cash grabs emerging. When LP was set to release new music with a new singer, I must admit I was cautiously skeptical. About a minute into "The Emptiness Machine," tears began to run down my cheeks. Hope was rekindled. In October, I’m expecting my third child, a daughter for whom we had long struggled to choose a name. But now we know-on October 22nd, our daughter will be named Emily. Chester is gone, but Linkin Park lives on in all of us. The king is dead, long live the king!
