This is F*#$ing awesome video. I now understand how I can configure my Novation Impulse which I have been struggling for years with. Finally can get the Pitch bend wheel working!!! I wish the omni was more like generic link for the impulses pitch bend. This is what Image-Line should have created years ago. This should be a sticky in Image-Line forum.

Thank you so much for demystifying the MIDI stuff on your channel. The creator of MIDI won a technical grammys, but most producers only find it useful for keyboard, and maybe pitch bend. There's so much potential to MIDI and I can't wait for a new innovation in the industry for an open source or crowd funded unified wrapper that works for most plugins and DAWs. And I surely hope Apple isn't gonna be the first one to come up with that software for Logic users. But if they do, the industry will follow so I guess anything will be productive at this point. Btw, I'd love you to test and explore my Akai Advance keyboard and their buggy limited VIP software and reverse engineer or do a workaround for a smooth integration without confusion. Because they had a great idea but the implementation was the worst it could've been. I bet you can make Advance work as close to advertised as possible, but with the cost of custom developing and MIDI scripting in FL. Hope to learn from plenty more videos for MIDI and software/hardware integration topic.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I haven't learned many details about MIDI 2.0 yet, but presumably that will be the next big thing (in the Midi world, at least). Sorry to hear your Akai hardware is frustrating - not what you want, to get musically inspired! All the best with your music production.

This was insanely helpfull - thank you ! It's a pitty we cannot create global links that only focus on one instrument. Loosing hours wondering why the knobs stopped working.
@adventuresincreativesoftwa6283
@adventuresincreativesoftwa6283 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the follows-window-focus approach takes some getting used to, but I reckon it's a good approach overall. Regarding your suggestion of a global link which works for a particular plugin, regardless of window focus: you could try putting an omni link in your template projects. It's more work to set up, but has the same result. Cheers.

alright, I didn't know about the template trick. I need those global persistent links for the mixer panel. thx, i'll get on it right away !!!

@@adventuresincreativesoftwa6283 I would prefer to have multiple dot flmapping files and have FL Studio allow me to load them into the templates or projects. Because if you do a lot of different styles of music its tricky to have only a few templates. I've made mistakes (like adding a global link from a slider that had Omni controlling pitch bend to "tempo" and overriding the generic link - if that's possible). So I learned that global links in a way are too permanent (when there has been a mistake). Omni links are very useful since they are active just when the window is active. But I wish these 4 Link sets were presets you could load and unload because templates for me are not planned. Its a process of discovery and I realize that a project can be replicated for other songs. I have about twenty and the thought of adding the Omni links into them seems counter-intuitive. I would have thought that FL would allow me to "import" the Omni links. In the meantime, I make backups of the global links files and have one be active and the rest are named .bak.

Thank you so much for making this video, I was researching on how to basically control all my plugins with my midi controller (XTouchMini) that has 8 endless rotary knobs, 16 buttons, 1 non motorized fader and 2 bank switches. I found out how to map each plugin separately without conflicting but I still have yet to figure out how to map a plugin with more than 8 knobs (for example the plugin I'm trying has about 25 knobs) to same encoders. How can I do that (also I am aware on how to link 2 knobs to have the same values using 1 encoder but I'm trying to control them separately without having the same values)?
@adventuresincreativesoftwa6283
@adventuresincreativesoftwa6283 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting. There are countless approaches, and no single 'correct' way to map your hardware. Most producers will map parameters as they're needed, rather than pre-map everything. But if 8 knobs are not enough for your needs, you could check out Komplete Kontrol (for free), which lets you control all parameters of any plugin with just 8 knobs (by grouping parameters into pages). Good luck!

@@adventuresincreativesoftwa6283 Hello, thank you for your suggestion, however I mainly use my XTouch only for mixing purposes, and taking a look at Komplete Kontrol only acts as a generator for synths with VST direct editing as effects for those synths etc. I'm looking to control a channel strip plugin that has 19 knobs (all different functions so they cannot be linked to same values)

Thanx for the video, However, I'm looking for a way to assign a button on my midi controller (novation launch control xl) to tap tempo. I did this years ago and can't remember how I did it. Any Ideas? Cheers from Regina Canada.

Hi! first of all amazing video. very informative. Any way to bypass having to be in focus on the window you wish to control via a global Link? This is, as you were saying, tripping me up.
@adventuresincreativesoftwa6283
@adventuresincreativesoftwa6283 2 жыл бұрын
Creating the links you want, and saving them in a template project, may give you what you want. (They won't rely on window focus, and you don't have to keep creating them from scratch). But it really depends on how you like to work. Good luck exploring the possibilities.

How do i play recorded audio file (.wav) with my M-Audio OXYGEN25 touchpad button? I can't find anywhere how to link audio files to controllers.
@adventuresincreativesoftwa6283
@adventuresincreativesoftwa6283 2 жыл бұрын
I'd probably load FPC (Fruity Pad Controller) into a new channel, and make sure you can trigger it's drum pads, using the Oxygen Pads. The replace the drum samples in FPC with your own audio samples (you can use drag-and-drop). Good luck!
